Anyone have/seen the Prince Live At The Aladdin LV DVD??

Was just curious as to what anyone rates it...I thought it looked good...and actually bought it last night. I watched it...it was ok, but I thought they should of put more of his more well known stuff on it as well...I like it but thought it could of been a little better for songs etc. Thanks

Actually, that is what was cool about the One Nite Alone Tour 2002. It was for the hardcore fans like me who have heard "Kiss" and "Little Red Corvette" enough times already. Not that I don't love his hits, but it was cool to hear him play some new tunes and songs from his catalogue that he doesn't perform often. And the fact that it was before his "comeback" made it better, because 90% of the audience were hardcore fans, not just the average Joe who knows "Purple Rain" and nothing else. (not that there's anything wrong with that...)

As for the DVD, I enjoy watching it. The band are tight, and I like the addition of Sheila E and the DJ for that night. Prince as always is switched on. My only wish is that it was the complete show and that the picture was a little better in quality. I like the way it's filmed, with handheld cameras, but the actual picture quality is poor.

I like the DVD. It's always cool to watch P live.
My favorite track is 1+1+1=3. The band is just too funky!

I loved it! Hearing 1 + 1 + 1 = 3 and Family Name live, damn, it don't get funkier than that! If you're only into his hits you might not like it. To the best of my recollection, the only chart-topper to be found is Pop Life (actually, I think there were a couple more, toward the end -- at least one from Purple Rain -- but I can't find my DVD, right now).

My ONLY complaint is the sound and picture. They beat 99.99999% of bootlegs, but they're not nearly as good as they could have been. Both are sort of flat. The EXCELLENT setlist makes up for it!

Luv & Peace,
Alex

i think the camera work and the sound was kinda crap, but i loved the performances and the music - it's worth owning, but at some points it takes some patience to process what you're looking at and listening to.

DAMN i am eating some SPICY fried chicken! I fucking love this dvd. I love the whole package. The DVD, the boxed set, the whole 9. Um, I actually don't care WHAT he plays, new, old, well known or not. I loved this tour and was at one of the shows that were featured on the cd. I always love to hear his hits, but to me 1+1+1=3 is just as good as anything else. I recently caught him on the musicology tour and I remember being really annoyed at how many 'regular' people were there. I think we've been spoiled the past few years! I've gotten so used to it being people like US at his shows, that when I walked into that arena and saw all the top 40 people there for a moment i thought i was at the wrong show. I kept waiting for Metallica or Christina to take the stage and say, " Sorry, Prince and the NPG will not be performing tonight!" I liked it better when he isn't so much in the spotlight. I don't like having to share him with anyone other than my prince.org peeps. I hope this doesn't sound racist, but I kept asking my friend Scully, WHERE ALL THE BLACK FOLK AT? We were stuck behind these two guidettes in thier cheap knockoff Paris Hilton skirts i am a total slut uniforms, who were obviously HIGH on some crazy shit (who the fuck takes drugs at a Prince show? I mean besides the two trashy white girls from new jersey) and in between them falling on me, passing out and going to the bathroom (which led to them leaving ultimately) ALL THEY DID WAS WHINE ABOUT 'WHEN IS HE GONNA PLAY PURPLE RAIN' and I knew that i had to kill them both and the five guidos behind us with that bizarre gotti boys hairdo drinking beer and eating hot dogs trying (unsuccessflully i might add) to pick up the two sluts. When Prince is on stage, how can you even SEE anything else? I think they were expecting a hockey game. Prince and Hot dogs... hmmmnn. I liked it better when the masses just didn't get it. So I guess my point is, the Alladin show is the shit. I don't need to hear all his hits. To me all his shit is a hit. He was playing DMSR at the guido show, and nobody even knew what song it was. He was having us sing along and it was DEAD QUIET. At that point i knew we weren't gonna get more than a ONE short encore. sigh.

My friend Scully just reminded me that the two guidettes on drugs asked us at one point, "What nationality is Prince?" and I told them he was mexican-israeli.

if your tv or dvd has stereo outputs you can hook it up directly to your burner. it should sound ok. hook the dvd/tv outs to the video/auxiliary inputs on your amplifier and the burner to amplifier out puts. and the flex capacitor is what makes time travel possible.

I have it and I love it. Like someone else said b4 it appeals more to the hardcore Prince fans like myself. The only prpblem I have with it is that the sound quality isn't all that. Other that that I wouldn't change a thing

Hey thanks all....I am no means as hardcore fans as all of you obviously are..I like the dvd, don't get me wrong, I love all kinds of music. I saw him for the 1st time at the Boston show..and I was totally blown away..it actually made me even more of a fan....I also agree with the part of seeing people there that looked like they would never be at his show..I swear, I said to a few of the people I know when asked how the show was..I told them there were so many people who looked like they were going to Metallica....people you would never imagine at a Prince show.....and yes.....there were about 80% white people there....well EW&F came here & it was all mostly middleaged white people too...my friend went & she couldn't believe it either about EW&F...they are awesome too. Anyway..I do like the dvd..but I totally see the point about the picture/sound quality that is mentioned.....hope he has another come out sometime soon because I will definetly get it. Thanks

I bought the DVD when it came out. I just watched it again lastnight. I think its a very good dvd. Contrary to you, I wish it was only new music, I can do without the old hits. I would have like more songs from the ONA piano and voice though. The quality of this dvd, visually and also the sound is decent, but I could be better. I thought the songs were pretty good.

DOnt get me wrong...I love that people are into Prince again, but I was stuck next to
some chick chowing on a hot dog that wouldnt even dance and only clapped during LRC
I almost slapped her silly..."you re at a Prince Concert!! Look happy!"
If you will, so will I

TRULY. and the hot dog people had the NERVE to be annoyed at me and scully because we wouldn't sit down and danced to every single song. HEY HOT DOG TOP 40 PEOPLE: IF YOU DON'T KNOW, YOU BETTA ASK SOMEBODY. What was really scary is that they didn't even know 'pass the peas'! you know, I'm fucking flipping out because i can't believe i'm in the same room as MACEO PARKER, and he's playing his heart out for us, and these fucking people didn't even know who he WAS. They were leaving every five minutes to get another damn hot dog and beer. Well, every prince concert is like a first, you know? except this one was the first time i had to endure that nauseating hot dog smell while i was seeing the man.
