Prince indicated (although he seems to be a little dishonest when it comes to money) that he makes $500,000 a show.

Here's how I understand it: The promoters have to pay him $500,000 to get him to bring his band and play. The promoter also pays for leasing the arena for the night, including all the ushers and other staff, and the catering for the band & crew. The promoter then hopes to sell enough tickets to make money (hasn't been a problem this tour!). Prince has to pay for the band, buses, trucks, road crew, etc. But he also makes money selling merchandise at the shows, plus he might get a small percentage of the ticket sales but I'm not sure about that last part. So, if Prince plays 100 shows, he takes in at least $50 million...and I'm sure it doesn't cost anywhere near that much to pay the tour expenses so it's safe to assume he's taking home plenty of $$$. "I would say that Prince's top thirty percent is great. Of that thirty percent, I'll bet the public has heard twenty percent of it." - Susan Rogers, "Hunting for Prince's Vault", BBC, 2015

There's also merchandise. All the Musicology coffee mugs and bunny slippers with the words "love 4 one another" scrawled on them. That's gotta bring some more cash into his pockets.
Or to his Church's pockets. You know how it's like when you become a JW.

Well, their congregation will certainly ask "kindly" for donations . JWs are pretty notorious for instance converting elderly, usually a little senile, millionaires into their rows.
I don't know how well Prince does fit into that description...

Just the other day I rediscovered a tape with that show about Prince's millions (on UK tv) at one point one of his ex-managers said the Diamonds and Pearls tour was one of the most successful in history (?) but by the end of it with all his extravagances he didn't make any money, in their eyes he 'lost' it all.
I thought, so what if he came out of a tour and only broke even, what's the point of hording all that money, might as well spend it on himself and his entourage and have fun with it. I always think, just how much money does one person need?

I actually think that Prince may be clearing $500,000 per show. The reason that I say this is because a couple of years ago, my father was involved in concert promoting with his firm. They were in negotiations (casual) with Prince's manager to bring a show of his then tour (he told me, but I can't remember all of the details of this-just that the tour dates were announced shortly before the concerts) to New Orleans. Prince was asking for $800.000 up front, and a percentage of ticket sales. They never came to an agreement, because to quote my father "Prince wanted ALL of the money." So, I think that maybe he still asks for $800k, and $300k of that goes to expenses. Thus, he WOULD net $500,000 per show. Just what I think.
My father totally thinks Prince is insane after being backstage a few times at various shows. He never actually talked to him, just his manager, but he did suffer some of the repercussions of Prince's .....eccentricities. He has good stories. S Filthy cute and baby U know it
