Prince says he is full of contradictions......are you? Sometimes, we have to face our own hypocrisies and I have decided to face up to mine. A few times in the past I have said things on these boards and have turned around and did the exact opposite. For example:
I'm not interested in Prince doing a greatest hits tour and I wouldn't go. Ummmm, I have seen Prince six times in the past five months. Even got my picture in freaking Rolling Stone. That's the only one I can think of off the top of my head and the search function doesn't work for me so I can't search under my old username Stymie, but I'm sure there's more from me. I guess a lot has changed in my life where I can't see criticizing or even bashing Prince online when I am so blown away by him. Bullshit aside, nothing kicks ass like Prince live and the man deserves respect for that. So can you own up to your contradictions/hypocrisies?

ok here's one. I never thought much of Beyonce. I never liked anything by Destiny's Child and I don't like much of her solo music either, but after seeing her perform with Prince, I don't dislike her as much. I doubt I would ever buy her music, but I don't think she's all that bad anymore.

Ehh, where have you been? I've been saying for the longest time on this site that all of us contradict ourselves at one point or another, not just Prince. But a lot of orgers would never cop to it. Contradicting ourselves, even when we're not conscious of it, is a human trait. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

Everyone on the face of the earth is full of contradictions. Unfortunately, most of us are to busy picking out everyone else's problems and we never fully recognize our own. Or should I say we never verbalize our own. [Edited 9/1/04 11:18am]

Contradicting ourselves, even when we're not conscious of it, is a human trait. I started this thread with you in mind. You said something a few years back that I didn't want to cop to but now with the absolute wonderful time I have had over the last few months, I can't front.

i dunno...i guess i am...i think it's impossible for human beings to be completely free of contradictions and i'm certainly no exception...i'm a strict vegetarian but i smoke and drink, and i eat junky crappy snacks at work...i call myself a pacifist but i'm as guilty for throwing negative energy into the world as anyone else...i'm sure there's much much more i could list...
the trick - the challenge, that is - is not only to recognize my contradictions but to try to own them until i can tame them, and then tame them until i can squash them. it's a hard process and i'll never clean house of contradictions 100% - EVER - but unlike a lot of people i've encountered in my life, i try not to use my acknowledgment of contradictions as a way of enabling myself to lazily wallow in them unapologetically and indefinately. that kinda thinking just drags me down.
