What "Graffiti Bridge" the movie should have been

It should have been either-

A.

A proper sequel to "Purple Rain" . It would've explained what happened to Apollonia, Wendy and Lisa, Mom and Dad, First Ave, etc. It should have have continued to be the real to life semi biography and shown what happened to The Kid when he hit the big time (fights with record labels?)

or

B.

A trippy psychedelic hippie rock/funk movie that carried the whole "lovesexy" vibe over way the edge. Prince should have made it so strange it that it was cool. Then, Aura wouldn't be out of place, the phony dreamy sets would have fit, and all the "music is the power, love is the message, truth is the answer" stuff ould have made sense and really meant something.

When touring Paisley Park there is a mural in the recording studio that is said to explain what "Graffiti Bridge" was orginally intended to be and it sounds a lot like scenario B.

Yeah, make it like Hair or 200 Motels, or Baby Snakes, just so weird it's acceptable.

I would have preferred A.
When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading.

strange but true: i've been told it was his explanation 2 himself (?) of our
curious communication...every scene was something that actually occured
(on the physical plane) or dreams that we shared...i always wished he would
have talked with me about it & perhaps it would have made sense to people
might have inspired or awaken folks to such spiritual realities in their own
lives...as a result heaven has gifted us with something neither of us can understand (all stand under:) & the most productive use for the good of the
whole is lost....yes, this ONE has been trying 2 tell hymn something most
serious since 1988!! "strange But TRUE-let's C what U can do..."

I agree with this. The sequel should have been more realistic, and it could have picked up where the first movie left off.The sequel could have focused on what happens when Prince and The Time hit the big time. But I think it would have been more appropriate if the sequel had come out only a few years after the first film...say,1986? By 1990 (when 'GB' was released),there just didn't seem to be alot of interest in a 'Purple Rain' sequel.

Well even the original version with Camille and Ruthie Washington made little sense as a movie (just going from the script).

The whole "sequel to Purple Rain" thing was such a sell-out and very tacky (in a bad way).

A is right but it was a Whole OTHER Movie. It turned into a RELIGIOUS MINDSET with ESP USED as COMMUNICATION Many Times by PRINCE. I Dug it for what it was. I actually watched it Last night. But to me it was one whole string of Music Videos Strung together and only Real Fans Loved it . Alot of them didn't either. Nothing beats Purple rain but I tell ya UTCM just is so Funny. Why it didn't work? The Critics Called it Too MUCH POSTERING by PRINCE but I say Who Cares We Fans Loved UTCM. I think Prince should do another movie this time a SERIOUS Piece maybe a AutoBiography of Somebodies life.

lol I was going to post that same thing!! lol

Prince should've made (or still make...) an animated movie in the same vein as the Beatles' film 'Yellow Submarine'. That'd be cool.

As for the initial question posed in this thread as to what GB should have been, I vote for A.

I feel that it should've labeled more of a "continuation" of Purple Rain. I feel that we should've seen what happened to the other characters from the first film. I think he should've kept in the "Can't stop this feeling I got","the Question Of U" and other deleted scenes. I've seen these performances and they were great. If he was gonna make a 50's style musical then he should've gone all the way with it. For instance "The Battle" should have been longer and "The Latest Fashion" should have been off the hook. It sounds like they are battling in the song and they should have done just that...back and forth. And most of all...Prince should not have directed it!!!!!

that movie was a disgrace, it was supposed to be purple rain part2 but it followed none of the guide lines to purple rain, he should have been shot for that
