Prince/Teena Marie Tour

I remember reading that back in the day that Teena Marie was the opening act for Prince on one of his early tours. This is very strange because everyone knows how tight Teena Marie and Rick James were back in those days and how much Rick and Prince couldn't stand each other.

Every one keeps saying that this tour happened after Teena left Motown but that can't be true. Teena's last album for Motown was "It Must Be Magic" in 1981. Teena was on tour that year with Rick James on his "Street Songs" tour with Cameo as the opening act. Prince was on his "Controversy" tour at that time so Teena couldn't be opening for that tour because she was with Rick on his tour. By the time Prince was on his "1999" tour, he had The Time and Vanity 6 as his opening acts.

This only leaves open the "Dirty Mind" tour for Teena to open for. I find that very strange. This is the very next year after Rick and Prince's big falling out on the "Fire It Up" tour. Rick and Prince were at war big time in this time period. Then Teena and Rick were back together again and doing "Fire and Desire" for the "Street Songs" tour.

This has always puzzled me. Does anyone know which tour Prince and Teena were together on and the circumstances of how it happened. And also how Rick and Teena hooked back up afterwards?
