i have a live bootleg, from the early nineties in germany.its from an after show performance in front of a crowd of like 100.
its crazy. he does a cover of "just my imagination(runnin away with me)" where he has a 5 minute guitar solo that would make you cry. he also does "housequake" and its funky as hell! also during a performance of "still would stand on time" he cusses one of the backup singers for screwin up the words. he says: "whos the fool sayin will, its would! still would stand on time! " its about 9 tracks deep with the highlight definatly being the guitar solo. [Edited 8/29/04 19:48pm] [Edited 8/29/04 19:49pm]

That's the most famous live boot out there, alternately known as "Nightclubbing," "Small Club" and a few other names.

I think Insekt Records' release is considered to be the best one, and it's from 1988 I believe. I think it's also known as the 'Paard Von Troje' aftershow, I don't have it handy so I don't remember. That said, I have this one and a few others, but I prefer his studio releases, mainly in the interest of sound quality. Also, boots are hard to find, are unreliable, and expensive. I just don't usually go through much trouble to find them. "Knowledge is preferable to ignorance. Better by far to embrace the hard truth than a reassuring faith. All others were taken from that bootleg. There have been "remastered" boots of this show released, but again, taken from this ealy '88 boot. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

speaking of bootlegs, I've seen a dvd of a musicology concert (can't remember what city) that took place early August I think. It really looked legit, but it would have to be a bootleg right? Eventually every cloud runs out of rain.

"In All My Dreams" remains my favourite Prince song to this day, and it's never officially seen release.

Boots, specifically live ones, have for me only deepened my love for the man as a musician and performer. While mostly dull studio recordings like Emancipation, NPS, and Rave continued to signal an alarming decline in the man's production and/or songwriting powers, the boots reminded me again and again what an amazing talent this man is regardless...
the guitar solos from some live boots continue to drop my jaw no matter how much I play them...and his bands are always rehearsed until they acheive perfection. Plus, Prince always changes up the arrangements at least a little...sometimes a lot!

I don't have any boots either, but that is because I am too dumb to know how to get them.
