Prince's Next Commercial Album Should b ROCK!

After The Rock N' Roll Hall Of Fame Induction and Performance, plus...Opening for the Grammys...and all his other exciting appearances on Jay Leno, Tavis Smiley, and Ellen!

Prince should really think about recording a ROCK Album!!!

Featuring an acoustic song with Wendy Melvoin and Ani Difranco...which would be hott!!!
With Concept of taking a stance against The War in Iraq and Mediocracy in the Music Business!

I'd also like to see the return of Rosie Gaines on a track!
Perhaps...a Hott Duet with Beyonce

JUST DO A ROCK ALBUM!!!

this might sound weird and hard to believe, but where i'm concerned, prince has already recorded everything i really "need" to hear from him. at this point, where i'm concerned, everything he could do from here on out is icing on the cake and he can do whatever he wants.

and don't get me wrong - i love icing. sometimes i eat it straight from the can. drool

Don't you think after 25 years in the business, its about time to target the Discos with a DANCE album for a change?

You ask why a Dance Album?
Because after 25 years it would be nice to ask a dj
for a Prince song & not have them look at you
like you just puked on their turntable.
It would be nice to ask for a Prince tune
& actually hear one for a change.

I think you're on to something. However, the word "disco"-- though I know your meaning-- scares me. Prince has been in a retro phase recently so let's be clear: Some new, experimental dance music would be nice. biggrin

I don't think Prince has ever made an album of just one particular genre except for maybe "The Truth".....yawwwn" NEWS was all jazzy but it was only four tracks. I felt kind of like a maxi-single rather than an album.

"I Wanna Be Your Lover" was disco. Prince has also made attempts at house/techno such as "Loose", "New World" and "The Human Body". These were decent songs in that genre but the 12 inch house mixes of some of his songs were horrible attempts at house.

Prince loves to go for the retro sound so I think for his next album he should do his OWN retro sound that he made so famous, what he does best, synth funk/rock. That sound would be considered retro nowadays. It would also be a nice and LONG overdue change.

what i hear is after he finishes this tour he is actually recording a jazz cd.
this will be cool, even though some say NEWS was a jazzy cd
i think we are in 4 a pleasant treat from the man.
WHY SHOULD I DO THAT, WHEN I CAN DO THIS

guitar rock would be great -- but i don't think he's angry enuff to do it anymore -- and no, i don't think it's a good idea for him to talk about religion and politics in his music -- he's too confused == why can't we just dance?

Not in any of the dance clubs, discos of raves that I know of.
Hell its funky, but nothing a d.j. would play unless he wanted to clear the floor.

I have all of Vollenweiders good stuff and NEWS doesn't really stand up to it. But he's in a position to have so much impact right now musically that if he just put dance music ALONE up on the on-deck circle it would be interesting at what age group it would target.

I would actually want Prince to do a Rock album myself. He hasn't really done much of that since Chaos & Disorder.

I'm not sure P has the chops to pull off jazz CD.

And, I'm not sure how good a deliberate Prince rock CD would be. I really enjoyed Chaos & Disorder, but I'm not convinced a rock-themed disc would be all that great.

I prefer Prince albums that center around a theme and include a mix of genres: Parade or the prince album, for example.

Yes!! I agree. I can all ready dance to a lot of his songs:

1. bambi
2. i wanna be your lover
3. uptown
4. baby I'm a star
5. when you were mine
6. party up
7. soft and wet
8. pop life
9. when doves cry
10. why you wanna treat me so bad
11. little red corvette
12. u got the look
13. cream
14. glam slam
and so on...

and the list goes on

HE DOESN'T need to make a dance album, the DJs all ready have plenty Prince material! They just don't play it. I would love to go to a club that played Prince tracks! I've never been to a club like that...and this is why I don't go.

His next album should be blues/rock. Oh, the lyrics he would have and the guitar solos!!

He's just gotta do one, just gotta!

And then he should do a tour in those small blues clubs (like Black-Eyed Sally's in Connecticut). He should go underground almost (I know that's hard to do cos he's PRINCE) and just play those small blues clubs and act as though he's not PRINCE -- act as though he's a new blues genius doing gigs.

I hear Beck's new album is going to be very Rock oriented. I'm loking forward to that. Myabe Prince should hear him out and maybe he could follow suit.

I remember hearing him say at a concert, "You-all like the blues?" and I'm screaming, "Yesssss!"

And I was thinking, Maybe, maybe, he'll release an all blues album, but now I hear he's about to do Jazz. I want to hear him do the blues.

I'm saying, Jazz is cool, it's okay, but I can't listen to a full length album of Jazz. Blues just rocks so much better!

Well he already did Chaos and Disorder/the Rock album. Something for the house clubs would be a breakthrough for him since he's never really dented it.

plenty? don't make laugh.

DJs don't play Prince because there's better Dance material out there. I'd say he has several tracks that could be sampled in a club today - most of it is just doesn't stand toe to toe with the higher energy works out there today. plus in the past 5 years, Dance music has really evolved and improved leaps and bounds above the experimental stuff that he's stuck in the old school recording.

Better material, probably. However, hearing something like BAMBI in the club would be better than hearing the 100th dance remix of "WAITING FOR TONIGHT" by Jennifer Lopez. Hearing "I wanna be your lover" would get me on the dance floor quicker than any dance song. I mean I like DANCE music. I listen to it every Thursday on the Univ. of Hartford's radio station, but I mean throwing on some Prince at a club would be nice and fun (that is, if I went to the clubs).

As for Prince doing a jazz album:

Prince if you must do a jazz album (say it ain't so!) please do the jazz version of LAZY AFTERNOON.

The thing i like about prince at the moment is the fact that he is'nt mainstream, and although he could pull off whatever kind of genre he wants, i think he should continue to explore as he has been doing, i reckon a "disco" album would be a very large step backwards.
