Lol, good point. Yeah, I get made fun of a lot because I like old music like Prince and Billy Joel, I don't care though.

i think listening to great music (oldies and such) is awesome...and i think it kinda shows maturity cuz you have an appreciation for a type of music that kids your age would scorn

Hey, its cool that you like good music. I've loved Prince since I was 7 years old. I'm 27 now (an oldie lol) and still think Prince is the best.

It was pretty interesting looking back at it. I was embarrassed about it, and never told anybody that I liked Prince, ever. I was sort of "in the closet" with my fandom, and if I ever revealed that I liked Prince people would make fun of me.

I suppose it's a testament to Prince's genius, that even though it's really hard to be a fan of his (in the sense that a lot of people hassle you for it), he still has a large and devoted fan base who thinks the world of him.

For example, i had to work with grade 5 students last term for my co-op and they asked me what i listen to and i mentioned Prince, Elton, Beatles, Madonna etc. And they were like "ewwwww that's horrible. Then i laughed it off and asked what they listened to and i got everything from Usher to Britney out of them.

We need more kids like you to spread the message that we demand better and want to stop this trahy industry from making any more crap.

heck, when i was 13 my favorite bands were the beatles and the jimi hendrix experience. beyond them, the most contemporary musicians i liked at the time were boy george, annie lennox and michael jackson (like virtually every other 13 year old drawing breath in 1983, naturally).

TIpper Gore is the wife of Al Gore. She lead a parents organization that forced companies to put parental advisory stickers on Musician's art. Her husband was nominated President of the U.S. about 4 years ago.

What got me into Prince was the song Little Red Corvette. I may be 13, but I'm not dumb, and I know what a "Little red corvette" is...and I know everything else, society will teach ya that in these parts where I live And it's good to hear some younger people are here.

Ok, now that I feel REALLY old!
I started listening to P when I was about 12 which was about 21 yrs ago, OH MY GOD,I am old!

Back then I did not tell too many ppl that I was really into Prince. In middle school I was in a lipsync group and we entered a school contest. (We performed Tamberine & America) We practiced everyday anyways just for fun. I guess after performing at school most ppl realized that I liked Prince.
To this day, I still do not tell too many ppl, they don't get it!
I don't care though. My step-bro is 15 now and I told him a few months ago that I was a huge Prince fan. He plays guitar and he is really into the 80's so I thought he would think I was cool. Well, it didn't happen, he laughed for about 15 mins, good thing we were on the phone. I would have choked him in person.
I am planning on taping some things that I am sure he has never heard, he lives in Tennessee. I think as he becomes more aware of the great guitar players he will explore Prince.
Anyways, any kids or adult that likes Prince is cool to me.
