PRINCE - A Gothic Album ?

He was great in "There's Others Here with Us"
and songs like "3 Chains of Gold (the eiree orchestral feeling)", elements in the "COME" album, and various songs scatterred throughout his musical career have hinted that Prince is quite capable of doing very dark sounding material.

It's obvious that Fans like Zelaira would jizz themselves if he were to do a Gothic album. What songs do you think he should include (if he where to do covers of Goth bands?)

I say, "Tommorow Wendy" by Conrete Blonde would be great, thought they're not a purely Gothic Act.

Well, I don't know too much about Goth so I can't suggest any songs but I think anything different is good. I would love to hear a "dark" Prince album. It would be a great opportunity for him to go crazy on guitar. I think it would be cool if he explored some different guitar sounds and a Goth album might be the perfect thing.

Please don't anybody freak on me but I don't think Prince tries enough different styles anymore. It seems like he is "stuck" in his pop/funk groove. While I do love lots of his recent material a little more experimentation couldn't hurt, could it?

That picture is Great... I don't Know why a Man who Creates all different types of Music has Never ventured into this... He could do Alot of Organ Sounds and why Can't he do well if he was gonna do Wild Stuff he could check out ENO which is WILD,KING CRIMSON ya got BAUHAUS and Ya Got PIL and Ya can have Teardrops Explodes... He could like I always Said JOY DIVISION..LOVE WILL TEAR US APART.....SIOUXSIE SIOUX stuff. He has Not TRIED this STYLE ..His Fans Probably would be Keen to Hear What Prince would Create in this VEIN..HA1 He is Multi-Talented would be a Trip..Heavy Organ,Bass....Why Not? I See Prince as he Loves MYSTERY..So What is BETTEr Than VAMPIRE MUSIC? What is Better than Prince with some Diamond or Gold Fangs that he could Remove? He Should Try more Kinky Stuff. I have an Image of his Next Outfit something he should Try PAPER and LUCITE Items ...Plastic Clothing ya know DIFFERENT with Splashes of Color..Oriental ..He could Draw it and Remember like Cher wore Mackie Stuff? Punk Rock Used Paper Suits..David Byrne...How about the Artist Robert Rosenberg or Rosstein or something who made the cover for the Talking Heads Stop Making Sense? Great design for an album jacket...How about Wild NINA Hagen not Goth but Punk..Very Strange... Ya got Kate Bush also style... Lene Lovitch. Great women....

Now that is one hell of an idea - Prince should spare us Jazz Odyssey or whatever the fuck kind of wankery he's planning on releasing as his next album. Instead he should do a song-for-song cover album of Kilimanjaro. That I would pay good money to hear...

I don't like the idea of Prince covering gothic rock songs. I just don't think it would work. Then again, I don't think Prince covering other artists really works in general. I'd rather see Prince re-record some of his own songs so they sound darker and might fit thematically into a gothic-type album--songs that are already a little sinister to begin with like Had U, Something In The Water, The Beautiful Ones, etc.

Yes, but what I wouldn't give to hear him do his own version of a Sisters of Mercy song--say, "Nine While Nine - (Funky New Power Mix featuring Larry Graham and Doug E Fresh) with passages by Rosario Dawson.

"Nine While Nine and I'm waiting ( ugh) .. waiting (ugh) .. waiting ( ooh ooh) 4 The Train...
Nine While Nine in 2 zero zero 4 comint at ya,
2gether Me and Larry Make the Remix a big sella.... (ooh ooh)

That would be a wicked album, I love dark music although I think he should compose his own. But just to play along, he should include songs such as:

Desolation by Mondblut
Sometimes by Silke Bischoff
Lullaby by The Cure
Under the Gun by Sisters of Mercy
I am Stretched on Your Grave by Dead Can Dance
Calling Dead Red Roses by Calling Dead Red Roses
Love Will Not Die by Deine Lakaien

"Bela Lugosi's Dead" - Bauhaus

I could see P singin' "The bats have left the belltower - the victims have been bled..."

Another good Choice for Music would be DEPECHE MODE...PERSONAL JESUS.... How about Murph's Cut You Up? Prince should check out Depeche Modes Black Celebration album and PIL FLOWERS OF ROMANCE..... He's Got Patti Smith Jesus Died For Somebody's Sins But Not Mine...Gloria.. But well, I don't think he'll do that one... How Come Prince this isn't Gothic but Prince could do 2 Women's songs...CHUCK E's In LOVE and BECAUSE THE NIGHT..... God, I wish I could be his friend and just hear him play Obscure stuff..what a Treat that would be. Or if he had a show doing these Obscure songs would Rock Out.....

I always felt Prince should get on the darker side of music. It would definitely be an improvement.

some kind of hardcore punk-funk electronic rock with lots of guitar would be cool, but will he ever try experimenting outside of a live band anymore? it's been awhile

Tomorrow Wendy? disbelief that's just wrong. And insulting. That song is about AIDS.

A "gothic" album would interesting...though I think one can make a gothic compilation from whats out there already. Come was pretty close to a "darker" sounding album. But you have t have tohe gloom and doom part...which P doesn't have.
