Yea I posted here once that I met them at a folk festival in LA in 94. They were really cool, I talked to them for a little bit and got their autographs. They seemed to be together then. I thought that was cool, cause I'm glad it wasn't just an act. Check out the Purple rain poster. oh yea.

there was an article circa girlbros were wendy refered to lisa as her girr friend.....they were also featured on a lesbian music compelation as well. but its never been something thats "really" been discussed. i think the reason for this is because its not really an issue. they are not artist who push personal agendas or throw their sexuality (straight or gay) in other peoples faces. have i answered your question? no...maybe because nobody knows the answer but the girls themselves...

two interest sidenotes:

1) a couple years ago in a kd lang article she pointed out that Constant Craving was written for Wendy Melvoin. She wrote the song because she knew that Wendy was a married women and that she would never have a chance. So she wrote the song as a testiment to her constant craving for Wendy...neato, huh?

2) during their performances to support girlbros. wendy and lisa removed all gender specific references to their songs... i remember being a little annoyed by this...but then after i saw prince reconstruct The Cross to The Christ..the minor changes wendyandlisa made paled in comparison and wastnt as annoyed.

I really REALLY wish I had a link for this, but I remember an interview (circa Girl Bros.) where Lisa and Wendy made a "point blank" reference to their relationship. I remember it wasn't some big, confessional thing - it was just a part of one of their answers to one of the questions.

I think that's a pretty classy way to "come out" - very casually, without all the drama and exclusive interviews and magazine covers. I don't think they're against being seen as "gay musicians", but I also don't think they go to lengths to be viewed as such, just for the sake of a little publicity in a few gay rags.

Exactly what I was gonna say. It was an article about the death of Wendy's brother and its effect on them both and the music. She pretty much said how thankful she was that she had her relationship with Lisa for support. Or something like that. (Did I get the names right? Yeah I know damn near 25yrs and I still can't remember which is which. sad really.)

WENDY: Geetar player, had the teased up Flock Of Seagulls hair in "Purple Rain" and was the one sitting on the piano in the "Mountains" video.

LISA: Pianist, has long hair (usually covering one or both eyes), quieter of the two and joined the Revolution before Wendy (who is the one sitting on Lisa's piano in the "Mountains" video).

I could always tell who was who, but they were always my favorite part of the Revolution (I'm probably in the minority here, but maybe not), so there ya go.

yeah, Wendy is cute enough, but Lisa's always been hotter. That was confirmed to me at a LovesexyDC party 1 time when somebody put in a "Mountains" outtakes video. Basically it was the same as the final video version everyone has seen, but just from different angles with isolated shots of various band members. 1 angle focuses on Lisa alone, for the whole video.

Unbelievable.

It was like her eyes just saw right through me- from a damn video! You know that expression "make love to the camera"..? To me, that's what Lisa does in that outtake. The best thing is-
credit to Ms. Coleman-
she's not even obvious about it; she's so subtle, but there's no mistaking it.

I challenge anyone to look at that "Mountains" outtake focusing only on Lisa & you tell me if THAT don't make you forget yo' name!
