U Got the Look was the only lip synced performance. It was also the only one in the movie that was a "dream sequence" and implied it wasn't REALLY happening but was something Prince was imagining he would perform.

But it was very much live--unless Prince went thoruh the trouble of redoing every vocal track for SOTT to fit the movie.

He did. Don't you own any of the Prince books where this is talked about?

I'll be the first to admit it if I'm wrong, and I have't read these books. Hardcore folks, mods, bring out the quotes. Even if he did a little vocal redubbing, that's not exactly lip synching. I mean, was he literally singing along to a recorded vocal track in that performance?

No.

It was mostly recorded live, then prettied up in the studio.

All of it was goddamn lip-synced, you pelters. It was a concert movie, not a live concert performance. All of his vocals were re-recorded in a studio. It's not meant to be too realistic.

In my opinion, musically speaking, it's Prince's best work. That live sound is even better than the SOTT album. There is absolutely nothing like the music on that vid, it's very very unique. And you gotta love the flattened VHS sound on my worn-out copy.

I don't really care how much of this film was lip-synched,or how much of it was re-shot at Paisley Park.I still think it's the best concert film ever! The performances are electrifying...the songs are all first-rate...and it also helps that Prince is supported by the best band of his entire career. How can any Prince fan watch this movie and NOT be moved by it?? I remember seeing it in the theatre, and when he launched into "Housequake",I just lost all control, lol.Watching this movie is even more exciting than watching 'Purple Rain' or any of his other films.

Prove it! I refuse to believe that the entire show was lip-synced.

Wrong... Just Rotterdam, Antwerpen and Paisley Park...

Neversin.

They show footage of Paris. The Arc de Triomphe.

That was just for the video of "U Got The Look", no performance footage was shot there...

Per Nilson said that the movie was overdubbed at Paisley, and footage was re-done at Paisley, because original mix of the sound was mis-recorded. It bothers me, but I still enjoy the hell out of that thing. Amazing performances. Still his best concert tour.

If you don't like this movie, then there is something seriously wrong with you. You even deserve to listen to Prince. Go listen to...fucking.....Emerson, Lake & Palmer or something.
