I was aware of him, but miseducated, and not interested. I knew there was some 80's has-been guy that has been calling himself "The Artist formally known as Prince." The first Prince videos I saw were Raspberry Beret, U got the look, and Cream. I didn't pay attention to or care about the music, actually my exact words were "The Revolution? Sheena Easton? New Power Generation? Can't this stupid guy make a hit song without someone else's help?" Anyway, at the record store a year later I saw 'Purple Rain' in the used CD bin for 3 bucks. I knew it was supposed to be really good, it sounded kinda familiar, so I bought it and fell in love. Next time I went shopping I bought 'Emancipation' because it was cheap. Loved that too. I ended up buying the entire catalog, reading the biographies, buying the hits on DVD, and lurked on These types of Message Boards. It's been a couple of years, I know a lot more. I've been to the concerts, read the vault, saw the movies, etc. Prince is the best obsession I've ever had. | |
