My adolescent treatment for the "Purple Rain" sequel.

Back in my bored youth I came up with a thumbnail sketch for a "Purple Rain" sequel called "The Dawn" (we all remember that right?). It was before "Grafitti Bridge" came out and it went a little something like this:

It's about 5 years after Purple Rain the movie ends and The Kid has become a huge star. The movie opens with him playing to a sold out crowd in a stadium. But The Kid has problems with subsequent releases. He wants to record different things and has major disputes with his record company about the direction he wants to take. So he releases a few albums to audience indifference. His sales decline, his career is in a tailspin, he drives away all his firends and co-horts, and his relationship is in trouble (Get this, Paula Abdul in a supporting role!). The story ends with him coming to terms with his success and career, making nice with his girl and new co-horts, and ending with a rousing song he's perforning in front of a sold out crowd.

What I had in mind came close to how "Almost Famous" came out. I even had the idea of having whoever shot "The Rose's" concert footage to do the footage for the concert scenes.

So what do you think? Hilarious or almost there?
