>>good stuff. Did call My Name move from 77 on the hot 100<<

those figures released tomorrow. I image it will stay around that same area (mid 70's). Without a major push from Pop or a re-surgance on Urban mainstream , the 70's is as about as high Urban AC can take it .

Well, the tour ends (for the forseeable future) in a couple of weeks, so then the album will slide down the charts quickly. But I agree it is fun to see him up there at the top.

To me playing the statistics and by that showing how inacurate they are is not cheating Gustavo...smile.

By the way did they count the online sales of Musicology into the Billboard? Did they...I think people should realise that the charts are just made up categories...and for P it is the smartest move in years to go all the way this year...

The only things I miss is a No.1 single and a decent contribution to the Re-release of PR, UTCM, GB...that is what I miss...

Peace

the giveaways only work because people is packing stadiums - isn't his tour pretty much a lock to be the biggest tour of the year?

Sony will release the "Cinnamon Girl" video soon without a maxi-single; I don't think even that will cushion the fall once the tour ends. There's already a glut of the concert version CDs at used record stores. Most fans have multiple copies already. Also, the fans' purple dollars are being shelled out for the 3 movie DVDs. The Musicology Experience will be over in 3 weeks!

HAHAHAHA! lol

Good for Prince. Is it common knowledge stateside what Prince is up to? It must influence sales in Record stores when people see this album so far up the charts.

Let's give Prince his props for being the genius he has always been....
Its about time someone shows the music industry that they can not control the artist everyone move on how to sale their CD's. I am glad he has step up and once again he has defied restriction!!! All I have to say is that Prince will always be consider a "Pioneer" in the music business, he is a true musician and respects the art and craft of music making. These new artist in the music game need to seriously take notes from this man they just might learn a thing or two.....I say KEEP DOIN' YOUR THANG PRINCE WITH YOUR SEXY SELF!! HE IS THE MAN AND HAVE BEEN FOR 25 YEARS!!!!

One Love,

Kstyles

You know that inevitably the naysayers will show up saying " it's not a true reflection of retail sales,.... if there weren't any concerts he would be off the charts yada yada yada... ". C'mon folks, take into consideration how well everything is going for him this year as opposed to the dark years - 1999-2003- when only the " FANS " cared, this is a phenomenal feat. No one will force you to be happy, but it helps if you show some enthusiasum. Are you really " FANS " ??? confused

the amazing thing is that just a year or so ago, concert giveaways on the one nite alone tour probably wouldn't have gotten Prince in the top 100. 5 shows then would have been what, about 13,000 total CDs? Now he's packing in more than that in a night, and as a result has the #3 album and has the #1 single on urban AC.

Absolutely right - Brillant comment!

That's the part all the haters don't get; The tour sparked the album bundling, but the tour has been the talk of the industry because it is THAT good. Seeing the album on top of the charts, and seeing the great tour reviews, I'm sure has made people who had considered getting the album say, "Well, if I can get a free one with a concert ticket, I'll check out the tour too!" So they have fed off of each other. Either way, they people have been consuming "Prince". It's not like he slipped the album in with a box of corn flakes! wink

Bottom line: This has been Prince's master stroke of marketing (one of the greatest ever by a musician, considering the revenue and publicity it generated), and EVERY fan, hater and A**kisser alike, needs to recognize and admit it...

Prince played the game, and won. It ain't like he's some talentless fly-by-night, whose done it either. He's a man who has deserved success for every year that he endured ridicule and the fringes of celebrity.

- That´s what I said....I am very happy to see 2004 as a great year for Prince.....Grammys, Hall of Fame, Billboard, etc etc....smile But I really would be happier if it had a mega- hit. A song that everyone knew and enjoyed and could sing along to it. I dont live in the USA, but I can´t imagine people there raving about the song Musicology like they did with Gett Off and Cream back in 91.

#1 single on AC? Where's the link?

Also, how is it feasible that a song could be #1 on this chart and not make a dent on any of the Billboard charts?
