Sound Problems on the new Purple Rain DVD...

Alright, I just bought all three movies, and have just watched Purple Rain (first time in widescreen since 1984! thumbs up!) Okay, is this my imagination, or what?

At the top of Chapter 2, after Let's Go Crazy, when Prince is getting razzed by The Time, I could clearly hear Jerome say "So s-", followed shortly thereafter by the same word in the line "So sexy".

Then later, in the Clarence Williams suicide scene, the sound totally cuts out when Prince looks down the stairs, and I'm sure there's usually a really scary sound effect of Clarence's gun cocking, but here there's only silence.

And then there's the really bad change in timbre in the beginning of the solo in Purple Rain, but I think this has been that way since Day One.

So is it my dvd, or my imagination? confuse

I noticed that too, but I just assumed it was my imagination, in anticipation of the line.

I haven't actually watched it yet. I just thumbed a couple of chapters for sound and picture quality evaluation.

The symbol glyph menu pointer is so stupid.

Where's my damn Purple Rain Booklet? I don't care if there's nothing in it, I hate it when I buy a DVD with a case that clearly has clips for a dvd booklet, and there's no booklet. It makes me feel as if I lost it, or something.

the sound on the extras is really loud with the music playing on top of people talking.

OH. MY GOD. I had no idea there was a whole video for the album version of When Doves Cry. The video I'm used to cuts to the painted face with the teardrop rolling down at the point where the single version ends. Holy moly!!

and by the way - UTCM and GB don't have booklets, either...

Don't blame Best Buy for it -- write a letter to Warners or whoever made it -- see if they fix the problem and send you a new copy -- that'd be cool. In the meantime, don't let it ruin the rest of the movie for ya. Life is tougher in other worlds outside of your own.
