Around the world in a day at the beginning of the Parade tour...
When he used to sing half the song with the curtain closed and then when he said : "I think I wanna dance ", the curtain opened with the whole Revolution behind and the place became a REAL pandemonium!!!! The opening of sign of the times is yet another one... "open your heart, open your mind
A train is leaving all day..."

When I saw him about 5 years ago at a late night paisley jam, he opened with a 10 minute version of Teddy Bear by Elvis Presley. I'm still trying to get over that one.
I personally think endorphine machine is a great opening song, but don't know if he's ever used it as one. If it breaks when it bends, you better not put it in.

From what I remember, the lights were on full behind the curtain so there was tremendous expectation. The only worry you sensed was that they were having some difficulty moving the drapes for the first song - it could have been a great spinal tap moment - as could that perspex tube capsule he appeared in for the D & P tour. When he used to sing half the song with the curtain closed and then when he said : "I think I wanna dance ", the curtain opened with the whole Revolution behind and the place became a REAL pandemonium!!!! ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift. |

I've seen the man 4 times (funny, I thought it was more). Thunder on the Diamonds and Pearls Tour, My Name is Prince on the Act II tour, New Power Soul Tour 1998 (can't even remember what he opened with, but he first came out during Chaka's set to sing I Feel 4 U with her!) but...
for me (so far) it has to be the sight of him approaching on his little conveyor belt, with the symbol guitar, belting out the opening of "Endorphinmachine". Wembley Arena, The Gold Tour 1995. Oh Man! That sent shivers down my spine! KeithyT [This message was edited Tue Mar 26 7:35:44 PST 2002 by KeithyT] Just somewhere in the middle,
Not too good and not too bad.

I've only seen him 5 times, but nothing beat the white T-bird intro on Lovesexy 88...."Erotic City"
"You're a sinner I don't care.."
