Prince needs YOUR help! Hi, everybody!
Up here in Canada, CBC Radio is our National 'highbrow' radio station, and they're currently running a program called 50 Tracks. The gyst of it is, each week they gather some industry professionals in the studio, to come to a consensus of the 5 most essential tracks of the decade. when the series is over, they'll have gathered the 50 most essential tracks of the 20th Century. Can you see where this is going? Yesterday they covered the 80's, and naturally, our boy's 'When Doves Cry' is in there. Trouble is, it's currently tied for 5th place with Joy Division's 'Love Will Tear Us Apart' (ick!). Now, I hope all you fine Prince fans will hit the link below, and give our boy the support he deserves. I think they'll be compiling votes all this week, and every vote counts! All you'll have to give them is an email address, and you're in there. Let's make it happen! http://www.cbc.ca/50track...index.html

Shit, I love Joy Division's "Love will Tear us apart"
To me , it was just as essential in my growing up as Prince music.

If you lived in Manchester you really wouldn't be calling 'Love Will Tear Us Apart', "pouty fag music". Both tracks are good in their own way.

d'oh! Sorry! I just tend to group a lot of the New Wave/Synth Pop in the same vein. But that's my ignorance... I really don't think I know enough about bands like Joy Division (or Bauhaus, for that matter) as I think I should!
