Graffiti Bridge is the Best Prince Movie

I know everyone will think i am crazy but i LOVED GB. I think it is the best out of the 4 Prince movies; including PR. The acting, action, directing, cinematography and music was awesome. Why noone else felt this way i don't know. Ingrid Chavez should have, at the very least, been nominated for a Sundance Film Award for Best Actress for her performance. Does anyone agree with me?

I knew people would feel this way but i'm sure at least 1 PERSON feels this way. I can't be the only one. PR had good songs and UTCM had some funny moments but GB had it all and then some. When that jeep ran into the window; you can't get a more intense, action scene than that. PLEASE SOMEONE, ANYONE, AGREE WITH ME!!

I saw GB for the first time when I bought it on Tuesday. There aren't any words to describe how I feel about the movie, so I'll say this instead.

I thought there were two words missing from the end of this thread's title...

Graffiti Bridge is the Best Prince Movie to avoid.

What are you, crazy?? While I like UTCM more than most ppl here...GB was HORRIBLE! HORRIBLE!! What was the plot? What was Prince and Ingrid talking about half the time...all of it only made sense in his head. The sets were terrible too, cardboard cut-outs and huge neon signs, whoopie!! Still, I do like the last scene with him singing and performing STILL WOULD STAND ALL TIME. Thats about it....other than that..it sucked.

The plot was an angel from heaven comes down to make peace between 2 men who are at war, figuratively. Both fall in love with her and she struggles to make peace while keeping them "off" of her if you know what i mean. She realizes in the end that the only thing that will work is her own death. This was the most touching, loving, funky, funny, beautifully acted movie of the 90's. WAKE UP PEOPLE AND SMELL THE FUNKY GUITAR!!!

Not this time, Redayh. I truly loved this movie. I wish people would believe me this time and give the movie a second chance. I hated Pulp Fiction the first time, but now it is one of my favorite movies(only second to GB)

I went to see it at the cinema one opening night and I had a big fat joint before I went in with my 2 non Prince fan friends and I have to say, we fricking laughed our asses off at Morris. I think when the film tries to be serious we laughed even louder. Graffiti Bridge, now there's a shite track if ever I heard one!!

I tell you what! next time you are in Prince's presence, and he is taking requests, like a MC soundcheck or something, scream out, 'Play Graffiti Bridge!' and see what looks you get smile And then look at Prince's face... even Prince won't ever play THAT one again...

Yes Still Would Stand All Time, Joy in Repitition, We Can Funk, Thieves in the Temple, Tick Tick Bang, Elephants And Flowers, HELL even Shake! are cool... The whole album is pretty ok...

But the CONCEPT of the film is:

a. Not original
b. Poorly executed
c. Doesn't work

Purple Rain proved that the ONLY way to make a music heavy film work is if the music is REALLY strong and the whole album/film gets it's own life and then it can work.

I wouldn't think of Graffiti Bridge as a major film like PR, I think of it like the Beautiful Experience. It is brilliant only when taken as a visual version of the album but the music comes first. It shouldn't be judged as a 'proper' film/movie.

Prince is lucky to have been in the position to be able to experiment and create visually as well as musically. I bet many artists would love the chance.

I am not saying I hate it or anything, i just think you need to remember the context of GB.

It's not a great movie at all, but it is a musical trip lol

The movie sucked, lets be honest. The screenplay was laughable, the plot was thin at best, acting horrible...sounds a lot like Purple Rain, right? The difference is the lame ass sets!!! It looks like a bad off broadway musical. The club was a powerful scenary tool in Purple Rain so was the beautiful shots outside capturing saylight. Shooting on a Paisley Park sound stage is what killed Graffiti Bridge mainly. The bad acting, directing and story just gave a small assist.

I thought that GB was an ok musical but it would b last on my list between the 3 movies. I like a lot of the humor that's in it but it's the musical performnces that i like the best!
