The Obscure Tour 2005

O.k. dig it. So i'm sitting here like Otis Redding on the Dock of the Bay cause its stormy in NY right now and i was thinking. If Prince is truly retiring some of his more commercially successful tracks (personally I've had my fill of Purple Rain for like the next 7 years) then how about if he put together a tour of rarely played or obscure jams? My question is considering that P typically rehearses 35-45 jams for a tour:

What songs would u want 2 hear?
What songs would you like to hear extended vs a little snipet?
Would you have an acoustic set? (Piano, Guitar, Accapella)
Who would be the backing band?
Would u take me with u? biggrin

My Obscure Tour setlist would look like the following:

1/ I'm Yours (Because its got the perfect intro for the tour and the guitar playing throughout is
wicked. Warner Bros really needs to digitally remaster this album.
2/ Calhoun Square
3/ Erotic City (Sheila E would have to accompany him on vocals so I could lose my mind again
like I did in 1988 @ the Lovesexy Tour which in my opinion is still ranks in my
top 3 of P tours that I've seen
4/ Computer Blue
5/ Uptown
6/ I Like it there
7/ Do it all night
8/ Willing & Able
9/ The Morning Papers
10/The Marrying Kind
11/Dolphin (I definately need a full version here folks, no exceptions)

O.K. so now that i'm pretty worked up I'm ready for an all out extended funk jam that includes portions of

12/ The Future/ All Day, All Night/ 1+1+1=3/ X-tra Loveable/ Tamborine

O.k. now i'm ready for a refill on my drink cause the babe next to me done knocked mine out of my hands (with her big ass). Prince has the crowd groovin on the 1 and 3 and here she comes messing up the count by being on the 2 and 4)So while I refill P goes for a costume change and has the band play:

13/ Xogenous (which segues into an acoustic set featuring Prince on guitar playing portions of:

14/ Crazy You/ And God Created Woman/ Money Dont Matter 2 Nite/ Dinner With Delores/
Vicki Waiting/ Shy/ Its gonna be Lonely (I must hear at least 1 verse, 1 chorus and the l
ast 3 minutes of this song which segues into the full band once again joining in)

15/ U Make my Sunshine (Here's where we get a guest appearance by Rosie Gaines or Angi
Stone
16/ 17 Days
17/ We Can Funk (original full version here folks not that B.S. George Clinton Grafitti Bridge
version)
18/ Hot Thing (Up till where he says "I could read you poetry and we could make a story of
our own")
19/ Data Bank
20 Ballad of Dorothy Parker
21/ And God Created Woman

This is where the show ends. After about a 10 minute ovation P hits the stage once again, just him & the piano and belts out:

22/ God/ Power Fantastic/ Pearls B4 the swine/ Do U Lie? (which segues into:
23/ What do you want me to do?
24/ Love to the 9's (he closes strong just like on the end of this track and with that I'm
hoarse and ready for the aftershow but after another ovation to
everyones surprise he is joined onstage by Wendy & Lisa where they
perform:
25/ In this bed I scream

Anbody feelin this setlist? Any changes? Holla!

I know he doesn't curse anymore, but I'd kill to hear "Count The Days." This was a funny ass song from the Girl 6 soundtrack. I honestly thought it should have been featured in the Kill Bill series.
It's 1984 All Over Again!

lol I would love to see that set list at the next tour. All those songs are really good, but not as well known as the others. They need to played! Actually I don't care what he does next, I just can't wait until the next tour! This tour was amazing.
