Artists who hate Prince There was a topic about other artists who like Prince but what i really want to know is which artists hate Prince or dislike him.

I think anymore, it's severely unfashionable to dislike or "hate" Prince. I know Boy George used to take the piss out of him regularly, but if ya listen to a Boy George album like "The Martyr Mantras" (is that what it's called? the one with "Generations of Love" on it), Prince is all over it, left and right. I think even artists that Prince publicly disrespects today, like Foo Fighters, probably laugh it off and still consider him a genius, albeit crotchety and in his own world.

I think Boy George was just competing with Prince because they are both flamboyant MTV artists at one point. But i saw BG talking about Prince in a more recent interview and he said something like, "Prince is one of the most self obsessed artists, but you sort of forgive him."

Keith Richards.
I think that Keith Richards and Eric Clapton had a bet over a Cartier watch as to whether or not Prince would fail at something or other. I can't remember the specifics. He also passed comment when Mick Jagger wanted to bill a show as "Mick Jagger & The Rolling Stones". Richards said something like: "We're not Prince & the fucking Revolution".

Let's remember that around the beginning of Prince's career he opened for the stones (and got bottled) so they must have seen something in him, unless that was Mick Jagger who liked him in which case means nothing cause Mick Jagger likes Britney. In Toronto Keith gave a high five to Justin T when they performed together so i doubt that Keith really hates Prince. He probably just wanted them to remain the stones and not Mick Jagger and the stones.

IMO if you like MJ you should be capable of liking Prince. But one of my friends is like a die hard MJ fan and once i tried making her listen to Prince. I put on "When Doves Cry" and she was like "OMG this sucks compared to MJ." So i guess MJ people are just MJ people.

I would think Kid Rock would respect Prince as multi-instrumentalist... he certainly can't play as well as Prince. The only thing he can do better than Prince is on the turntables. So he sucks too then. btw, I'm still looking for that article where all these artists (including Paige, clapton, santana...) gave Prince props. where can I find it? Good morning Ladies & Gentlemen,

Wait a minute. I think we can all agree on how we feel about Boy George, but Britney actually has some redeeming qualities. While she is no virtuoso, Toxic is a hot song and so are a couple others. And she was hot too. Like Mick Jagger, I could easily say I like Prince and then later say I like Britney. I don't think I'm losing any credibility, and I don't think he did either. Starrfighter

(if you can call Justin an "artist" ) Justin T is very talented. Sadly, he like many other artists today have lots of talent but crappy records. He can sing and he can move, and yes he can even play some instruments very very well. He's got some decent songs (Rock Your Body, the one with the black eyed peas)... but of course he is no Prince! I wonder what Keith thought of Prince's performance at the RRHOF then, because he was also present at that event. At the RRHOF, Keith inducted ZZTop, and his random and rambling speech included praise of Prince's performance earlier in the evening. Also, I read that Keith stopped at Prince's table and spoke with him for a few minutes. In the '80s, Keith was critical of Prince, saying he had a problem with his attitude. In one interview, he did praise Prince's cleverness in manipulating the music industry, but said he believed Prince was more interested in doing that than in making music. This was all years ago, and it appears to be water under the bridge now.
