I was looking though the NPGMC store the other day to see if there where any new stuuf or bargins. I saw The War on cassette for $4. I didn't know anything about The War only that it was one really long jam, but I figured for $4, it would be an addition to my Prince collection that gathers dust (aka 1999: The New Master, For You, NPS), but I keep to be a completist.

Well, to my suprise, I friggin LOVE this tape! Man, what an electric jam! Incredible blazing guitar, cool ass chant, trippy effects, and totally psychedelic. Anyone here who hasn't heard this needs to pick this tape up (I'm bummed they don't have it on CD...anyone know how to transfer tape to CD?). For $4, its one kick ass bargin. What's the general opinion on here about The War?

I can get you a copy on cd-r.It really is a cool piece of music. This makes me want The Flesh sessions even more!I imagine stuff like this.

You can download it from the NPGMC in better quality. I was there in person when it was recorded

I like it. It's long as hell but it switches up all throughout the song.....unlike the 12 Inch of "America" which is too damn long and hardly ever switches up after it goes into the extended part.

The War Cd is probable the most valuable disc of his. the rarest are Peace, Supercute, The Daisy Chain, the War go for $200 to $400 on Ebay.
I lost the cd and sold the case only for $41.00 on Ebay. I've looked for 2 years for that lost disc. I gave up and sold the case.
The Jam is incredible.
Prince should do another round of limited releases of those 4 cd's. Press 5,000 of each and sell for $10 range on his sight. That would bring in 200,000, although that's chump change for him these days. He could give it to charity, LOVE4ONEANOTHER.

I think thats a very good idea. He should sell limited quantities of The War along with The Family, Madhouse 8 & 16, and Mazarati on CD on NPGMC. I've seen those go for over $100 on ebay. I think just about everyone here would buy a copy.
