variation. it's more interesting musically to explore the melody an octave lower or higher verse to verse....in the case of higher, it can suggest perhaps urgency, in the case of lower it can suggest sincerity or less urgency...or anything similar you can think of.....think of it as the musician or singer using a different colour. .
