I got a surprise in the mail today! (SPOILER WARNING!) o-tay folks, set your phasers to "twinge of jealousy" now...i got a copy of the 20th anniversary pr dvd in the mail today from a friend of mine--and no, it's not a bootlegged copy, it's the real deal!!!! don't ask me how my friend got a copy, cuz he won't tell me....and if he told me, i wouldn't tell you.  anyway, since i'ma be goin down to first ave. tomorrow night to watch the film i won't be talkin about the movie itself ('sides, we all know how it goes anyway)...i will, however, will tell you a little bit about the extras disc. i won't give too much away...
IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO HEAR ANYTHING ABOUT THE PR DVD YET, YOU BETTER NOT READ ANY FURTHER THAN THIS WARNING! ...you still with me? okay, but remember: you've been warned.
overall, the extras disc is very, very nice. of course, it's got some info that you'll already know if you're a prince geek/geeklette, but it's very educational nonetheless. the featurette about first ave. and prince's part in the club's history is my fave of the extras disc so far...sad thing about it is that steve mcclellan is one of the people on there givin a testimonial, and he got let go from helping with managing the club a couple months ago.  other folks featured in the testimonials include:
-- folks from the revolution (of course) -- jam & lewis -- alan leeds -- jill jones -- albert magnoli -- kurt loder ...i haven't watched the dvd in full yet, i probably won't watch more till later on tonight before i go to sleep (that is, if i don't get too enveloped in watching the olympics)...i've basically just scratched the surface here. trust me, ya'll--you'll love the dvd once you get it next tuesday.  | |

I preordered all 3 of them like 2 weeks ago and there's no way in hell I'll get mine early. Now I'll have no choice but to watch those old MJ dvds i watched like more times than i can count. | |

At 12:30 Tuesday afternoon, my happy ass'll be at Best Buy, picking up The Poiple Trilogy (as I oh-so-cleverly refer to it): PR, UTCM and GB.

Man are you slipping on this one,Kurt Loder wrote a great cover story on Prince for Rolling Stone mag dated August 30th,1984 issue no.429(WHICH BY THE WAY I STILL HAVE,a pretty picture of Prince posing on the front cover with no shirt on.All about PR,with a picture of Apollonia posing in a purple bathing suit!!!and Morris Day. | |
