Who thinks the NPG hurt Prince ?!?!?!

Just been reading the topic of W&L hurting Prince (can't imagine a Prince fan can come up with such a topic, they made one of his all time best Parade, besides Purple Rain, ATWIAD etc.and somebody is asking if W&L have had a bad influence on Prince!!!!) but what about the NPG? I'm sorry, he made some nice cd's in the nineties, but they are really nothing compared to the eighties! (with the exception of Gold Experience)
I wish he got rid of the NPG, start making cd's on his own again, get sheila on the drums, bring back CAT, bring back the background voices of W&L and make a cd again that makes me shiver! Musicology? sorry, but it's a simple normal cd, nothing less, nothing more, the singles are boring has hell! Tell me the feeling u got when u first heard Lovesexy, when u first heard SOTT, when u first heard the Black Album..... now compare that to when u first heard Call my name..... see what i mean? well, just had to say this a get rid of my frust!

i don't think the npg hurt him...i think they kinda helped his style u kno? noone wants to b stuck...and the 90's stuff isn't supposed to b like the 80's stuff..its a new decade...so a new sound is bound to come...i'd b suprised if he hadda stayed stuck in the 80's. now i aint goin lie i WISH he'd do stuff like he did in the 80's...just not the same...like wit the influence...but still modern.

i don't mean he should make a purple rain part II, but i wish there was some fire again in his music nowadays... and what's that thing about not using drumcomputers anymore, he should get that stuff also back and make some slammin' beats like he used to!

NPG is a much better band than the Revolution could ever dream to be. True he had a bigger success with the Rev, but as with all artists, nothing compares to the old stuff when it comes to the media and the fans. If NPG had been around first, then people would say they liked them better than the Rev.

Get off of this site because you are getting on my nerves just like EverlastingNow. Both of you have STUPID opinions and should be banned 4Ever.

scuse me? did u even READ like really READ my post? i said i kinda think the npg helped prince. ok! jeeze whats got ur draws n a bunch? and if anyone one should b banned its U..because u obviously can't accept anyone who's opinion is not the same as ur own..altho i did say that i kinda think they help him soo whatever...read the orginal post.

I don't believe that the NPG hurt Prince as well as I don't believe that the Revolution hurt Prince either. Both the Revolution and the NPG have been vehicles for Prince's work.

Obviously, he has used input from the different members of both groups, but to say that either group has hurt him as an artist I feel is incorrect. To me, he is like a sponge, learning from everyone he has come into contact with over 20+ years he has been recording. Every lesson learned, another color in his ever-increasing pallet.

Granted, he has had hits with both the Revolution and the NPG. However, the music has evolved and changed and in his mind (which is the one that really matters) is what he is happy with doing and performing.

Would it be nice to see Sheila E., or Wendy and Lisa, or any of the countless others that have played with him come back on board, yes. However, let's just enjoy the fact he is out there, happy and touring bringing the funk to millions.

You know what, robertSCRUB? U are now added to my list of people who are getting on my nerves. No one on this site knows more about P than i do; therefore no one elses opinion mattters except for MINE.

Is this talk really necessary? hrmph All people's opinions should be respected round here including yours. Your posts really show more about your immaturity than they do about your "intelligent" opinions on Prince

Maybe you should state at the top that if people don't agree with you then they shouldn't respond. WHat's funny is that you are being an ass to those that are agreeing with you.

I'm sure I am on the list of folks on your nerves...and that's fine with me. nod

I don't think NPG hurt him. I mean The Revolution was a great band. It was just a change in the times, lik eThe Beatle I wanna hold your hand to Sergernt Pepper or Run DMC Walk this way to DOwn with the king. Just a new era.
