Who here misses the time Prince only cared about music?

I miss xenophobia, east, and the likes. I don´t wanna see Prince´s face on MTV anymore.
He was going to a very interesting way for us musicans. I wanna more long extended jazzy jams. kill the pop.

anyway, statements such as the one you made here honestly make me worried about us (meaning, the consensus of folks within the immediate fan community): when n.e.w.s. and all that stuff came out people were like, "omg, i wish he'd sing and be seen everywhere!!"

now that musicology has been out for a while and that he's actually sung like everybody wanted 'im to all the sudden we get the usual, total opposite of what we were ranting against earlier. "omg, i wish he'd shut up and not be seen!!!"

I'd love to see him keep up the momentum as a performer and a pop musician, and keep up with the instrumental stuff on the side. I don't like the idea of Prince going "either/or", where he's either a flamboyant extrovert onstage, or else he's a reclusive Phil Spector-esque creature churning out mysterious little jazz-fusion gems...though I guess the instrumentalist side of his career has always been something he's like to cloak in mystery, ever since the first Madhouse album.

Feh, who knows with him. Odd duck.

Being that Jazz is 70% of the music I listen to... I too loved NEWS and Xeno. They are the recordings I've been waiting Prince to play for years. I would love to see P do them live... But unfortunately, most fans don't appreciate Jazz..... I love his pop stuff too, so I'd be happy if he kept up the jazz stuff on occasional side projects.
