Prince Alter Egos! On behalf of forum member LeiLei Jayenne
Has anyone got opinions/thoughts on Prince's many alter ego's. Are there any more personas you can think of? Actually this is quite fascinating to me and also quite difficult to figure out, as the song-writing credits differ depending on what you're looking at, but i've done my best, apologies for any mistakes. A run through of his alter-ego's then; *Camille....my personal fave, a sexually-ambiguous creation, called 'he' by Prince, but due to the speeded-up vocals on Camille credited songs, sounds rather feminine. Camille songs are; If I Was Your G/F, Rockhard in a Funky Place, Housequake, Shockadelica, Scarlet Pussy etc etc. Rumoured to be the other lost Prince album (The Camille Album it's imaginatively entitled!) *Spooky Electric...or, as Prince proclaimed, the dark side of Camille. Credited for the whole of The Black Album, the unreleased/highly bootlegged lost classic. Prince always said that Spooky Electric tricked Camille into recording The Black Album! *TAFKAP...oft-derided pseudonym of a genius' temper tantrum! Though i understood his reasons at the time. Recorded such classics as My Name Is Prince, Sexy MF, '7' whilst going by this name...and also released the rather patchy Symbol album. *Jamie Starr...more of a song-writing alter-ego than recording one. Credited as engineer on the Dirty Mind album, and wrote most of The Time's songs on their first album. Also wrote for The Family, Sheila E, Vanity 6 and Appolonia 6. *The Kid...his character in Purple Rain, and therefore imo his alter-ego for that brilliant album inc. some of the greatest songs ever made; When Doves Cry, The Beautiful Ones, Computer Blue, Take Me With U and Darlin' Nikki. other song-writing alter-egos include; Christopher Tracey...wrote Manic Monday for The Bangles under this name. Joey CoCo...wrote songs for Kenny Rogers, Jill Jones, Sheena Easton and Nona Hendryx under this name. Paisley Park...wrote songs for Paula Abdul, Patti LaBelle and Tevin Campbell under this name. Alexander Nevermind...wrote 'Sugar Walls' for Sheena Easton under this name.

The Black Album was released. *TAFKAP...oft-derided pseudonym of a genius' temper tantrum! Though i understood his reasons at the time. Recorded such classics as My Name Is Prince, Sexy MF, '7' whilst going by this name...and also released the rather patchy Symbol album.
The album was given the title but all of the recordings above are 'Prince' releases, pre-dating recordings released using the symbol. Other possible alter egos: Gemini Tora Tora . ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.
