It's a great shame that the full length version never surfaced as a b-side or something.
But Prince definitely made the right decision editing it down for inclusion on the album.
Anyway, the album never included the full length version in the first place. The version
that was originally included (before Take Me With U was added) was already edited
down to 7:34.

I don't think watered down is the right description for the album version, but I get ya.

Maybe we'll see something on the re-release of PR...if it ever gets reissued.

I love the extended version. I don't mind it being left off the album. You can only fit so much on vinyl. I wish he would have released it on a 12 Inch though with another unreleased B Side.

Take Me With U was also edited down as there is a longer version of that song. It has an extra instrumental break down that is not on the album version. But Computer Blue extended is a real classic, especially "The Hallway Speech".

But I can see why it was edited.

Left as it was it would've dominated the album. Rename the album and the movie if you leave it in, it's just too much for that album. Also, to my ears, the now classic guitar solo from CB is a little lost in the epic that is the extended version.
