songs you wish P. would cover

For me it's gotta be a tie between "Summertime" from Porgy and Bess. Janis Joplin did an incredible version of it, and I'm sure he'd kick as on it too!

The other would be if we could go back in time and have Prince and the Revolution do T-Rex's "Children of the Revolution."

How 'bout the rest of you?

I would like to hear him do a slow tempo rendition of "Help" by the Beatles.
Tina Turner used to do a version of it, and I thought it was kinda cool and wondered how a Prince version would be.

lol Cute.

Don't ask me why, but 4 YEARS now I've always thought Prince could do a really cool take on Led Zepp's 'Rock and Roll'

I was floored by his rendition of 'Whole Lotta Love at the Manchester ONA show in 2002 (I know many purists weren't too) but I just think it would be so damned cool.

He could really let rip with that. Man, I just get excited thinking about the prospect.

It's been a long time since I rock and rolled,
It's been a long time since I did the Stroll.
Ooh, let me get it back, let me get it back,
Let me get it back, baby, where I come from.
It's been a long time, been a long time,
Been a long lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely time. Yes it has.

It's been a long time since the book of love,
I can't count the tears of a life with no love.
Carry me back, carry me back,
Carry me back, baby, where I come from.
It's been a long time, been a long time,
Been a long lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely time.

Seems so long since we walked in the moonlight,
Making vows that just can't work right.
Open your arms, opens your arms,
Open your arms, baby, let my love come running in.
It's been a long time, been a long time,
Been a long lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely time...

Winter In America - Gil Scott-Heron. The style would suit his current band.

Roberta Flack's Feel Like Makin' Love - I loved D'Angelo's spin on it. But the original always sounded like a For You outtake. I'd really love to hear it now that he's gotten reacquainted with the electric piano.

Prince is just too cool for cover songs.

Well, on second thought he could cover something by Tears For Fears, just to please the New Wave fans (like myself).

I would like to see P doin' a cover version of "Cat People - Putting Out Fire" by David Bowie (I'm talking of the soundtrack version, not the LD version). IMO that could be really great...

Testify - Rage against The Machine (He'd rock that riff hard and the solo is already Prince inspired)

Stop, Look, Listen to your heart - marvin gaye. (alone at the piano)
