He did a little country skit on the Muppet show. He had on a pair of overalls & looked pretty damn good in them too.
I guess his most country-ish song is "Right the Wrong" from Chaos & Disorder. It's actually very similar to a lot of Southern Gospel-type music too.

there's this short humorous country song in one of the ahdio shows from last year (but for the life of mine I cannot remember which one!).
It's quite funny, he sings really bad (on purpose of course) and everybody starts booing and throwing bottles. It starts with "all my old buddies live in New York City, that's why..." or something like that.

I have never heard anything country by Prince, but I'm sure he could make it sound good. He can even make rap sound good.

Prince definitley has country music in his bones! I think he could do a straight Country album easy.
I think he has a natural ear and rhythm for it. If you listen close to some of his songs you can hear a country sound in there, especially some of his slower mid-tempo stuff, even when he's pluckin that bass sometimes. He also did a cover of Shania Twain's song "You're Still The One" song before. peace!

LOL 1 lousy song! Is that all he's got? That don't prove Prince knows country especially since you guys are the only ones who ever heard the damn song!! No wonder you guys think he plays 26 instruments! test

Pfunk if u ever hear Prince boots he goes country alot!
Especially when he's in a good, playful mood. Thank God Ima Country Boy! YeeeeeHaaaaaw! Also listen to the bas work in Big White MAnsion and more. Emancipation def has some contemporary country sounding sounds on it mixed in! It really is funny, cuz I dont think it'll be a question of if but when he will do one! Ive listened to alot of his stuff, and it has tickled me as I thought before, dude should just get it out his system snd straight do a country album! peace!

He wrote 'You're My Love' for Kenny Rogers (if that counts?):
http://www.npgmusicclub.c...ylove.html. There is also a section sung by Prince ("This is the latest fashion, swing your partner on the floor")on the remix of 'The Latest Fashion' (as featured on The Time's maxi single of 'Shake': http://www.npgmusicclub.c...shake.html ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift. |

Considering most "contemporary country" sounds like MOR R&B and EMANCIPATION featured a lot of MOR R&B, it's quite likely I passed over these tracks. Maybe I'll check it out. test

Sweet Baby fm. The Symbol cd and The Holy River from Emmancipation sound like "Prince country" to me.
