Of all the Prince bootlegs that you own, which is your favorite???

Incase you didn't know it Im pissed off. So I present to you ,the avid Prince collector, a question. A query if you will. Id like to pick your purple paisley brain. Of all the bootleg Prince CD's that you own; which is your personal favorite. Which one is in your opinion surpasses all the rest. Which on stands as the definitive Prince bootleg. I challenge you to be original. It can be either a live album or a studio outtakes album (but not an official release). And for those of you whom are wondering mine is a toss up between: WONDERBOY (Live Europe 1987) or Welcome 2 The Beautiful Experience (Live Minneapolis 1994). That was the first time that I heard Days of Wild. Need I say more?
My DC Direct wishlist: 1) Bane, 2) Prof Zoom, 3) Superman Blue, 4) Kilowag, 5) Parasite

LOL Good one - Everybody knows the definitive bootleg - everyone will have the same answer...

Of all the bootleg Prince CD's that you own; which is your personal favorite.

Now that is a different question altogether.

I love Dream Factory - the album that never was.
Emporium is funky

That would have to be any one of the following: Stockholm or Paris 1986, any 1988 aftershow (if I have to pick only one, it 'd be the Small Club show in Den Haag, of course), the 22 March 1995 aftershow at the Emporium in London, or the 13 August 1998 concert in Brussels (my first).
This is not music, this is a trip
No, it's not a drug, it's something more hip
Don't need no reefer, don't need cocaine
Purple music does the same to my brain

The Work vol 1-5...can't get much more "definitive" than that! mr.green

As for 'favourite' I'd have to say 'Fantasia'. The sound quality just blew me away when I first got it.

SMALL CLUB Holland 88 is the greatest Prince bootleg ever. And that's a fact. James Brown meets Miles Davis meets Sly Stone = Prince live at Het Paard van Troje, Den Haag, Holland, August 1988

Luv the concerts, especially the ones I attended. The summer of 95 Paisley shows always bring back fond memories. Does anyone have last years Celebration shows? Would love a copy of the 2nd show. The piano segment brought me to tears. Send me an org note if you have it.

I have to agree with Small Club as far as live bootleg. The Jewel Box 1 and 2 have the best selections but the music quality is poor.

Small-Club
A Parade Around The World ( mostly Paris ZĂ©nith 86 )
Why you wanna treat Me So Bad ? ( New Orleans 82 )
Thieves In The Temple ( London 6/24/92 )
The City Lights box
Neon Rendez-Vous ( Rehearsal in 1984 )
Rock Over Germany ( Lueneburg 1993 )
I'm eager 2 listen 2 Sendai 1989, an integral Lovesexy Tour show in ex-soundboard .

Live:
Any aftershow of Lovesexy is as good as a recording of a live show needs to be.

But I like Vienna May 30, 1987 aftershow best, even though my copy is poor quality and only half the show. Still the experiment on the funk in that show is just incredible ... The Ball and those jams that is not music, that is a trip!

The 90-ies aftershows always miss that experimental element, though are damn funky I must say.

Studio:
Dream Factory - the best album never released

The best live bootleg for me is most likely the one from Atlanta March 6, 1980. Prince as the opener for Rick James in sound board quality! Studio: probably the Dream Factory album.

Ok, so I'm naive... can somebody tell me where I can get bootleg CDs in the US? The only place I know of is gone. I'd love to get some of the previously posted ones! Thanks for your help.smile

I don't have any full Prince boots albums and probably never will, but last year on Aimster I found downloads of "Electric Intercourse" and "Extra Loveable" that I think are beyond fantastic. I would love to hear both of those with primo quality.

Although I LOVE Small Club, for live recordings, I can't get enough of '4 Those of U on Valium'. Strange Relationship is just too slammin' on that one (that snipet of Superfunkycalifragisexi is speaker thumping at it's finest)...also love The Avenue. Probaly 4 Those, Small Club, and The Ave...top 3.

For Studio...no question...Dream Factory. That is the album that actually sounds like an album...not just a collection of outtakes. Even disc 2 seems right in place.

!!!!!SMALL CLUB!!!!!

Hands down the best boot, or should I say, the best aftershow in recorded history.

stares him down accordingly.
As the clouds break
and the hand of god
expells this mad panopticum.
The water turning crystal clear
and the pebbles at the bottem
turn into little bells of air
rising slowly to the surface
each one holds a syllable
an echo of the words remaining
unrecorded by the dark
machinery of time.

It's called "Foreverever In My Life" but I think it's the same gig as ....

SMALL CLUB

It starts with a 10 minute jam followed by a funky guitar version of DMSR.

1. Small Club Moonraker (duh!)
2. City Lights--I love the Dirty Mind gigs especially.
3. 4 Those of U on Valium--the Strange Relationship comment is right on! WLOL... this is your DJ Prince!
4. The Avenue
5. The Park Vol. II--if this were soundboard, it would rank up with Small Club in my mind. I love the Chaka Kahn and Hendrix covers especially. Funky Design slams.
6. "Preposition"--yeah, y'all know T did a better job on this than Moonraker's Deposition! Deposition has the tracks at the wrong speed! (Throw T's Dream Factory CD in as an honorable mention)
7. Emporium--best audience recording I've ever heard and great shows!
8. Princemas--must include this one for originality. Did T do the Funky Design/Big Fun/Mad mix? I love it!

Wonderboy, Studio Nights, Livesexy, Welcome 2 the Beautiful Experience... they might be up there, but I don't own 'em!
sad

Fantasia? No way. The sound is great, but the Carmen outtakes are ridiculous and everyone already had the Madhouse 24 soundboard, so it was a kind of redundant release. There are a couple gems on it though.

The unreleased concert videos are my favorites. I love the 1983 first ave show with the first appearance by Wendy (that sounds like I'm talking about a comic book!) and debut of a lot of the Purple Rain material. The inclusion of Electric Intercourse and A Case of U makes this a must see. I love how they tear the roof off with D.M.S.R. as the encore.
