jonylawson	one question(or rather answer)has eluded me now for NINETEEN YEARS!! whats the interlude in pop life? ive always thought it was a boxing match!

It is a sound effect from an SFX library that was available during that time. Prince had recently started using them (actually he had been using them on albums like 1999 in songs like Lady Cab Driver and Free among others).

As I recall, it was what Sunset Sound had on hand. I always thought it was symbolic of his concerts with the Rolling Stones win which he was boo'd off the stage and pleted with garbage, but since Prince ain't talking we ain't knowin' for sure.
