what is wrong with prince??? Since joining I have notice people have been some what dissappointed in prince for awhile now. Some of his past albums such as new power soul/rainbow children/ and even musicology were not up to par (if I had to give a grade would be a C). Granted there are some cool tunes from these albums ( waisted kisses, come on, cinnamon girl, she loves me 4 me). Rave unto the joy fantastic was one of his better albums from the last batch ( so far sp pleased, prettyman, baby knows, and where ever you go to name a few). Problem with that was prince put out "the greatest rommance thats ever been sold" first (is that anyones favorite track from that album???). Things Prince can do- get a new band (keep kirky j on drums he is real good). All those saxes/trumpets/horns have just got to go. Larry Grahm "boring!!!!!" Ruined "the cross" by Larry's singing of "the christ". Plus how boring was Larry Grahm on Vibe (he talk so much Mayte never said one word). Another thing Prince can do- "stop the preachy songs" such as sacrifice of victor/we march/ right the wrong (ok we get it!!!!!). The worst preachy song "when will we be paid" it is very hard to feel sorry for a multi millionaire talking about not getting paid. Prince himself has been accused of not paying workers himself. Prince should focus on his strenghts such as his rock songs/ ballads/ and funk. (stay away from jazz numbers and that boring "band intro" he did during the gold tour.....ok for after shows). What Prince is doing right- keep doing Tv appearances (leno, today, ellen). Maybe if Prince does this his next album could be compare to "purple rain" or "sign o' the times".

WTF R U talking about???? Kirky J sucked and is the source behind some of the dull beats on emancipation. Prince's current drummer is John Blackwell and is amazing. The whole band is pretty tight. Your post should be dismissed on the basis of calling his former dancer (kirkJ) a great drummer.

I believe you've misunderstood this song. It is a cover of a classic song, and the 'getting paid' bit is not about Prince's next pay check. Listen to the lyrics. Also, what is the point of complaining about the long intro on the Gold tour? What does that have to do with what he's doing now? I think you were ranting a little. Life it ain't real funky unless you got that orgPop.

Swaying that beat from 70 to 120 bpm in one song (even if he wasn't suppossed to be doing that) [This message was edited Sun Jun 20 1:40:26 2004 by spaceboy] Ich bin bei der Neue Kraft Bewegung

Nobody loves a music critique, why? because they don't know what the f**k they are talking about, Man give me a break, what gets me is how people think they are the expert on Prince's music, To think that Kirky J is better than John Blackwell made dude loose any credibilty that any fool would think he has. to try and eliminate certain styles from his music would eliminate why we dig Prince, we get everything thing from him, Rock, Jazz, R &B, hip hop, sould, classical, country etc. thats whay separated him from everyone else. And to tell him how to run his business, No one is bigger than Prince right now, and he did it his way. YOu know what, this is really tired, why am I even commenting on this lame subject. How you gonna get my back when you fronting.

I agree with getting rid of the horns and the jazz. I have been saying that since the late 80s except then I was saying get rid of the horns and orchestra.
Also get rid of the hip hop phrases like "diss" and "mack". Don't try to fit in with the current artists out there today. Don't join 'em, beat 'em! I used to love Janet Jackson but now I can't stand her for selling out to hip hop. She had the chance to run hip hop out of style when she did "That's The Way Love Goes". She was still hot from "Rhythm Nation" but instead of beating them, she joined them. Run that little no talent, no instrument, midtempo music form back underground where it belongs! The only way to do that is go back to being the "old" Prince before "Purple Rain", ONCE AGAIN, bring back the damn synthesizers! Andy is a four letter word.

you just have to face it that there will not be another purple rain or SOTT. The problem isn't with prince its with people comparing his current work to his 80's albums, which isn't really fair. Those albums are some of the greatest ever. Musicology is not a horrible album and its not a great album, it is better than a lot of the other stale shit thats out now though. when the melting pot stirs how we gonna take it?
when u can't tell him from her how u gonna fake it?

Aren't these "preachy songs" you use as examples at around 10 years old? Your arguement is weak dude - very weak. [This message was edited Thu Jun 24 4:44:20 2004 by thedoorkeeper]

Ok,Larry had 2 much influence on Him,his music & lyrics,
and i´m sure it´s Larry who´pushed´him in becoming JW. But i´m really tired of comparing his masterpieces with his current-last 5 years-work.There has been a great threat a couple of weeks ago about his choice of musicians and instruments wich pointed out that it´s not only the songs but HOW the new songs are played or produced. And really...if U don´t like it..why bother 2 listen???? Love4oneanother
