NO contest. Considering that he was the one that wrote most of the songs for the other artists listed on here, not much a collaboration really. Plus you can't mess with Mountain, Sometimes it Snows in April or Power Fantastic to just name a few.

personally I think sheila E comes 1st with gems like Erotic City or Love Bizarre the magic is surely there
the revolution as a group did have a certain chemistry and sound that took turns with dez and andre as P's guitar soldiers Morris, not the time as whole group because the albums they released were mainly Prince playing the music and background vocals and Morris ' lead vocals... I think Jill Jones and Prince's colaberations were wonderful and intimate. Her Paisley Park album is the evidence. Rosie Gaines and Prince seemed to have a short lived but well sounding singing adventure. Right now I think he and John Blackwell's chemistry is amazing and I don't see him shopping for a new drummer for a while. it's scott nothing2dowithme

Because this thread seems to be about chemistry on record. Prince WAS the Time in the studio so The Time as a unit doesn't count as studio chemistry. But I don't think people are reading the thread that way or WHY would someone vote for Dez???? What did he ever do with Prince in the studio as a collaboration? Wild and Loose? He's so Dull? Good songs but nothing like the Parade album. By the way the Time live (the ORIGINAL band) was one of the best bands I ever seen.

I'ld have to go with Sheila E #1. Both 'Love Bizarre' and 'Erotic City' are like phenominal.
I also like the chemistry he had recording with Morris Day (as mentioned...in studio they were primarily The Time), performing and recording with Rosie Gaines and the Revolution (As the 'core' members of the group stood from Purple Rain-Parade) esp Wendy.

By far:
They worked so closely with Prince, he trusted them greatly and some of my favorite Prince work comes from their influence/collaboration. Also can't leave out:

Wendy and Lisa Lisa had been with him since 1980 and Wendy was her childhood friend. They made him aware of classical music which he otherwise wouldn't have heard and challenged him more than any other musicians (arguably) before or since.
I read that the keyboard run at the end of When Doves Cry was written to show them how much he'd learned! if you've gotta pay for things that you've done wrong I've gotta big bill coming at the end of the day- Gil Scott Heron

Very limited studio input aside from Fink, are you talking live??? I'm talking about their chemistry together. A person is influenced by the people they associate with. Fink played on some "Dirty Mind" tracks. Dez helped out with the first The Time album and Vanity 6 album. As far as Andre goes, Prince grew up with Andre. Who knows what kind of influence Andre could have had on Prince. Prince has also cheated Andre out of credit that was due him. My favorite is the "strong" Prince of the early albums and these guys were around back then. Their mere presence was definately an influence and who knows what Prince has not given them credit for. Mayte.
Her musical gifts and inspiration alone made Prince the musician he was during much of the 90s. One hears such sounds, and only one word comes to mind.....Mayte. .. [This message was edited Tue Aug 17 20:10:43 2004 by AsianBomb777]
