I think the only song by prince that anyone has ever done justice to is when D'angelo remade "She's Always in my hair" what a great cover tune.

I almost don't count Chaka's version of "I Feel For You" because I kinda think of it as her song. Granted I heard her version two or three years before I heard Prince's, so I can never hear his original without thinking of "Chaka Khan, Chaka Khan, Chak-chak-chak-chaka khan..."

Other than that, I really dug the Space Cowboy's "Die 4 U," a club take on "I Would Die 4 U." And the Derailer's country version of "Little Red Corvette." Who woulda thought those keyboard lines would work on the steel guitar?

The Foo Fighter's rocked-out edgy interpretation of Darling Nikki is incredible!!!

Sinead O' Conner's interp of Nothing Compares To You gives the song more heart and melancholy than either The Family or Prince.


And lastly I actually liked Jordan Knight's slow version of I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man. The song's scenario and lyrics were BEGGING for a slow melody. beautiful.
