why prince avoids guitar oriented tracks to be singles

when was the last time when prince put guitar oriented track as a single?
i belive it was dinner with delores.
he was bragging before how world doesnt aprecciete him as a guitar player enough,
and how he cried when eric clapton said he loves guitar solo fropm purple rain and purple rain is claptons favourite song.
but instead he avoids guitar oriented tracks to put as a single.
why?is it because of his black r"n"b oriented fan base.
or he is affraid that he would be consider to be a sell out.
for example ,
george clinton said that black ppl didnt like funkadelic
because they were too white for black ppl and too black for white ppl.

Bragging about how the world doesn't appreciate him as a guitarist is out of character - yes, even for Prince, who brags about his live gigs and music. Sounds like embellishment to me.

eek
Hmmmm. I sure hope George doesn't think Asians won't listen to anything unless it has a mandolin in it.

I do think that Prince has been much more afrocentric since 1996/97 but I think it reflects current tastes more than public opinion. Any wierdo that changes his name to prince and adopts a freaky Liza Menely look at the same time obviously isn't too concerned about public opinion.

i see youir point Banishedone it seems after the single 'Gold" flopped on the charts he pretty much started releasing more r&b type singles...he is on one of the best guitarists i have ever seen and i think with the exception of Purple Rain,Chaos & Gold he has really under used to hjs guitar playing skills when it comes to his albums
Check it out ...Shiny Toy Guns R gonna blowup VERY soon and bring melody back to music..you heard it here 1st! http://www.myspacecomment...theone.mp3

Yeah, but it's a good source of hearsay and borrowed quotes!

I think Prince feels he has done guitar rock singles to death earlier in his career and he doesn't need to go down that route anymore.

Which is a shame because I love that type of stuff.

More than the syrupy ballads he constantly tries to make hits. He's gone down that route too many times too.
