PRINCE RECORDED A CD WITH LENNY K.??? I was watching EXTRA on TV and they said "Find out why the CD Prince recorded with Lenny Kravitz might never be released"… and then the power went out before the commercial break was over. Did anyone see EXTRA or does anyone know what this is about?

I know that they recorded a track for Lenny's "Funk" album. Lenny released Baptism instead. I hadn't heard that there was more than the single song, but it makes sense. Oh, by the way... Baptism RAWKS! Listened to it on the way home from work tonight. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Prince said something about the project with Lenny in an interview awhile back. He basically said they had recorded an albums worth of backing tracks, but no real vocals or lead bits or anything. THey just needed a chance to work on it again. But, he said, it would never see the light of day due to Lenny's recording contract (which, I guess, was rather restrictive). So, perhaps Lenny re-signed to his company? I don't know. But, I've got no problem believing that something Prince recorded will stay in the vault because of a deep seated personal belief of his. The man's a genius, but I would love to get my hands on the stuff he keeps in his basement.

Okay, since squirrelgrease recommended "Baptism" I guess I'll have to check it out. I have all of Lenny's other albums anyways.

Lenny has mentioned this a few times. They have done more than one project together. Whenever they hang out, they end up making a record. But he said it's something for them and that he doesn't think it will ever be released. Listen for Lenny screaming "Bitch!" on Billy Jack Bitch...

Serveitupfrankie* This is not Lenny singing "bitch" it's a sample of Fishbone 's song , Lenny do some backing vocals on this song.

My bad...thanks for the correction. You know 25 years of Prince "facts" they do start to bleed together...

Compare the horn line from BJB with the horn line from Lenny's "Always on the Run." Hmm.
Also, I remember Prince being quite upset about Lenny's last recording contract. Prob had something to do with those Prince/Lenny collabs as well.
