A lot of people don't realize that the deleted barn love scene is one of the true meanings of "Purple Rain". When I buy the DVD, I am going straight to the special features and then I am going to watch the movie with commentary. I am very interested in hearing the director's and producer's take on this film. I just saw the work print version of this film. It's very interesting watching the movie in it's first stages. One down side. If you thought Prince and Appolonia's acting was bad in the official version, try watching the acting without the voice-over's. Crazy man, CRAZY.

The script states that when Prince and Appolonia made love in the barn, it started to rain. The combination of the rain and fog made the rain look purple. I'm sure everyone knows that a glimpse of the scene can be viewed in the When Doves Cry portion of the film. Take a very close look at the rain falling against the windows. It also made sense to me why Appolonia was so emotional after he performed Purple Rain. Check this. There was also a scene where Prince almost kills himself racing a train. You can read this in the script. Again, take a look at the When Doves Cry portion of the film. You will see Prince sitting on his bike as a train approaches from behind. Then he pulls off, leaving a cloud of dirt. It's like Albert and Fargnoli put together a collage in tribute of the deleted scenes in the When Doves Cry portion of the film.

Purple Rain is a good film. Very entertaining. I may be off base by saying this but there is one thing that is missing. An actual story. There is not much character development. They seem emotionless like they were cardboard cut-outs. From what I understand, the scenes that were cut from the film would have added to the character base. They may not have added to a great extent but it could have helped. I remember reading a portion of the script where Prince and his mom were having a conversation (after the big fight with Clarence Williams). She told him he could have been a girl and she called him Skipper. That scene is reminscent of the very emotional scene between Prince and his father. One of my favorite scenes I might add! But then again, maybe Albert and Fargnoli's intention was to make the movie less dramatic and more entertaining. As I stated before, the actual acting by Prince and Appolonia was less than great. Thank GOD for voice-overs. Nevertheless, this is one of my favorite films of all time and I still look forward to watching the widescreen presentation in a couple of weeks.

even better i went to HMV a few days ago and asked about all 3 dvds that are coming outon the 24th... they wont be in-store but you can surely ask them to look it up in their pc and they can order it for you (25.99 each one) and they can call u when it gets in thats what i plan on doing so get to hmv, especially that big one up in your city in the downtown area, they're bound to have it
