I like 1999 The New Master!

I like 1999 The New Master!

Sure I could have done without Larry, but overall, I love to hear tracks updated. I still have the original if I want it.

The fact is, I rarely play the original. I’ve heard it so many times; it’s almost become boring. The New Master breathed new life into it for me.

Good bits:

1. The production. It finally sounds modern
2. The RPM. Finally more danceable
3. The Salsa, nice twist!
4. The mixes

Some people consider it sacrilege to mess with classics, but you have the choice to ignore it. Personally I think that a Prince re-recording is far better the usual crap remix by some wannabe DJ or producer.

I say bring more of the new masters on! I want to hear full versions of the sounds on the Purple Medley. Purple Rain sounded very interesting, as did Darling Nikki and Raspberry Beret.

Am I mad!? nutty

I kinda agree with you. '1999tnm' just has a better overall sound. Try playing the original at maximum volume, it doesnt sound good. 'tnm' has a much better quality. Plus the first track is a lot longer, which is always good'. Thought the salsa bit worked very well. I don't know why some people don't like this one...it beats the hell out of other 'remix-albums' (eventhough it's not eaxactly a remix-album.

Just listen to Bon Jovi's rerecorded songs...can't remember the name of the cd...It's horrible. At least prince pulled it off.
It was not in vain...it was in Minneapolis!

Is the one play you gave it so you could burn it onto your hard drive, frame the cover, and then transfer the song to be your ringtone and start up sound? wink

I'm not so keen on the New Master, but I love the track "Keep Steppin'" with Doug E Fresh. "Armaggedon headed... leathal rap weapon"

He's right. There's nothing wrong with it, as long as we still have the original.

It has rap, dear Jesus, by Doug E. Fresh at the end. A rap at the end of 1999. Are you nuts?? Well your name is squirrelmeat.

I prefer the creativity of your avatar to this paltry piece of pish-posh pie. (Nice avatar by the way...think I'll make one in the same vane).
There was more creativity in this post than on that CD...

Do you listen to the Get Wild mixes a couple of times daily also...Get Wild...get-get...get wild!!!

This thread has me thinking. if thats the way Prince would've done 1999 if he didn't have the idea until then, I wonder how many songs that didnt turn out so good couldve been great if he didn't have that massive ego.
