Shouldn't we bar young fans from these messge boards?

We are always talking about penises, vaginas, oral sex, incest, gerneral erogenous zones, masturbation, his old lyrics, his old albums, and Larry Graham.

It just seems we need some control.

I think we should only talk about candy, fluffy kittens and/or bunnies, and Oprah Winfrey.

Some people can be more mentally mature than you think. Our age does not necessarily mean we're too young to hear this, perhaps we already have. I know I had from school - I mean the majority of "young orgers" are between 14-17 - these are all teenagers who are just picking up their sex drive - so their friends are gonna be talking about sex a lot and they're gonna be as horny as hell, so if you're concerned about our ears being too young to hear about sex and masturbation then I'm gonna defend us and say we ain't. Teenagers these days are more sexually active than any previous generation.

I'm actually a little surprised by how young a few of our fellow orgers are who post about things like shaving their testicles and whether or not it itches, and I was thinking the same thing.

But, by the same token, I couldn't be more thrilled to see a teenager here who's into Prince...slowly buying Prince albums and asking wide-eyed questions about him and his music. THAT is thrilling and makes the org fun. It's better than a board full of only Prince know-it-alls complaining about "Musicology" not being a masterwork like something long in the past was. Newer fans make this experience fun and exciting.

Having said that, I'm wondering if maybe we ought to do a better job of noticing who is in our midst and maybe deciding to save nude pictures for orgnotes instead of posting them for everyone, and things of that nature. It might be unfair to say "don't talk about penises, vaginas, etc." here, but we do, after all, have a "General Discussion" forum, and there's nothing restricting conversations about those things. And, let's face it, much of Prince's work in his years gone by deal with erotica and sensuality and sex. There's no avoiding it.

Maybe we can just be more careful? I dunno...

I am 14 years old, and I have to agree with Zogmuffin and say that we're are gonna hear this stuff and much worse at school. I already do since I go to high school...lol I mean obscene things are part of Prince's history and this is a Prince board so we gotta talk about it. OK, OK. Being young does not mean you are should be banned from listening to the complete history of Prince--I totally agree. But don't come crying to us old cats who had to live through Jughead and Graffiti Bridge the first time around and say we didnt' warn you. (now THAT is obscene).

It's nothing worse than most kids would hear at school or even at home.

I agree with a lot of the previous posts - we read and hear things 10 times nastier in the school bathrooms than we do here on the org. And who's to say that today's music isin't promoting a lot of the same ideas (and in worse ways/forms! [the song "Freek-a-Leek" comes to mind here!]) that Prince's music was promoting back in the 70's and 80's. Today's artsists still rant and rave about sex/masturbation/taboo topics in their music and kids undoubtedly listen. So if they're gonna hear it, hear it from the master - PRINCE! He is the best form of sexually explicit music, IMHO. And not only can he be nasty and explicit, he can be very meaningful and sensual, too - sometimes all at the same time!

And my parents have alway been very open with me about such topics. They've never been reluctant to talk about anything involving sex, etc. which, I think, hes kept me better informed and aware.

So, in short, KEEP IT DIRRR-TAY! (let's not beat around the bush) ...but that's just my
