just one... I'd say probably Crystal Ball.
The orchestra section right after the guitar solo is amazing! I wish he would do that live sometime.
And that he played the instruments on this one alone, is breathtaking... I mean that song is so complex.

Hard to choose...but my fave is still ´When doves cry´

But I always get chills when i listen to ´If i was your girlfriend´, ´She spoke 2 me´, ´Billy Jack Bitch (extended)´, ´Something in the water´ ´Anna Stesia´ and ´Family Name/Everlasting Now´ (I can only listen to them in a sequence)

I've been avoiding this thread. This is REALLY difficult. I'm going to go with Crystal Ball, since there is so much there. It's like 5 songs in one.

"LET'S WORK"

The song represents the innocence of childhood to me. Everytime I hear it, I can still see the girls locker room at Inglewood High School, Inglewood, California. The sun is always shining, this girl - I can't remember her name plays Let's Work every single morning for the first semester of 9th grade on a cassette boom box. The two of us sang along with the song every morning changing into our too tight shorts for first period gym (p.e) to go play softball, sang the song on the field, and sang it while we were showering after class. Innocence. The days when girls beat up boys for liking us. However, Prince was our man and only he was allowed to introduce us to, and play with our sexuality.smile

So much arguement on Prince's finest moment..
That wouldn't happen with other artists. I think that tells you something about the man's music!

Today it's JIR. Tommorow who knows...

Seems everyones idea of what a jam is varies widely. The song that does it for me everytime is Extraloveable. I also have a soft spot for Mad. Sure its just a Get Wild remake but its nasty and fun. Prince tears shit up on his guitar too..

Housequake....the song is funny as shit and fuckin' smokes...that big, hard, loud funky drumming is immediately infectious....and love that "Shut Up already, damn!!" that kicks it off...as well the "needle-stuck-at-the-end-of-the-lp" sound effect tacked onto the very end...and the synthesizer chords are eerie as hell, too...just everything about that song championed Prince as the coolest, funkiest, baddest, most creative fucker around...

Everybody shut up!...Listen 2 the band...

okay, talk about impossible, all time fave, it has to be purple rain, but solo is an extremely close contender, both these jams are overpowering and full of the artists emotional strength. what do ya'll think?
