1)"THE QUESTION OF U" has all the elements of what makes a great Prince song. I have never heard a guitar solo section that captures both Joy and Sadness, meloncoly and hopefullness all at once;followed by the creativity of the Victorian organ, clapping and "HA!" effects. The song is simular in melody to "Under the Cherry Moon", but "? of U" reflects what I like about Prince best:Emotion and creativity.

2) "ANOTHERLOVERHOLEINYOHEAD" The blending of The Revolution vocals is beautiful and it's mature songwriting for a then-28 year old. And it's fun to sing along to in your car! When I hear this song and "IN A LARGE ROOM WITH NO LIGHT" it makes me wonder what kind of music would be in the world if the Revolution stayed intact longer!

3) "DANCE ELECTRIC" a nightclub I used to go to in the 80's used to put this bootleg in the mix and it killed! You have to be in a strobe-lighted club PACKED WITH people dancing to this GROOVE to fully appreciate how funky and cool this track is! A few Caesar's helps too.

"just pick one"
this is a trick question, isn't it?
There are different faves for different moods...like Anna Stesia for your spirit...or Sometimes It Snows In April for your down days...or I Love U In Me or Scandalous for those, you know, um, long nights...Prince's music is as schizophrenic as WE are, so one pick may be damn near impossible.

come on, it's too hard to just pick one (as just about all the responses demonstrate)

i would say that it would either be parade or sott-era
kiss, anotherloverhole..., in a large room with no light are all brilliant

crystal ball, if i was your girlfriend, rebirth of the flesh, adore likewise for sott

geez, at the moment i think i'd say rebirth of the flesh for pure genius (although it's hard to make that call on the basis of a low-quality recording)

actually make it a tie between crystal ball, adore and rebirth...how does that sound?

What do you mean by jam? His best song period? His most funky danceable song? (Erotic City). Or the one you played the most? (Little Red Corvette, single and extended version)

All very good choices. But no one has yet mentioned WE CAN FUNK, and if you don't like the GB version try the 1986 version. The only Jam I haven't agreed with from all the choices is Housequake. I think this track is fantastic when it's live (I've never seen prince live but I've seen videos and listen to concert CD's) but I think the studio version isn't as good. 'sorry, but all the other Camille tracks don't compare to housequake'.

I heard an extended version of "Lady Cab Driver" yesterday. Prince jammed at the end of that song.

I have always like "Anotherlover" and "Computer Blue." Imagine Prince performing extended versions of these songs at the ONA tour.

For slow jams, it is Adore.

I like the Prince tunes nobody hears on the radio, such as "There's Joy in Repetition" from Graffiti Bridge. His guitar solo is pure sex.
