Strange -- where'd it go? Looks like the site ate it -- everything was loading very slow earlier.

Originally, the post went something like this...

On the Controversy album, I used to skip "Let's Work" almost every time. Now I would never! And on 1999, I used to skip "D.M.S.R." quite a bit. Never again! I guess I was just too young to understand the funk?

What Prince songs are you almost too embarassed to admit that you used to skip?

I used 2 skip a lot off the´slow´ones:Adore,Scandalous,Slow Love,
the ladder,Insatiable and Arms of Orion(sometimes I still skip thies one).
These days I will listen 2 them but they still aren´t my fav.
I still skip Blue Light and I wanna melt with U and at first
it used 2be 3 in a row including The Max.
And will skip Shake! 4ever...

I used to skip I FEEL FOR YOU.

I'm 2 ashamed 2 even admit some of the songs I used 2 skip...
U may have 2 beat it out of me.

I never skipped any tracks, 'cause Prince first hit me in the cassette era, when skipping a track was a more serious undertaking.

But I remember when I bought Parade when it first came out, and gathered my friends 'round to listen. When Do U Lie? came on, my buddy Jamie reached out and hit fast forward...

...you can bet I smacked his ass!!!

Im ashamed to admit I used to skip Lets Pretend We're Married, but one day
somthing clicked, like I got the silly smacked out of me and I fell in love with

Same thing with the prior Controvery LP....I only listened to Controversy, Do Me Baby and Let's Work.

Thing was back then I use to buy something called....a 45" and i had each of those on 45's that were availabl so I rarely litened to the whole albums.

Hell..my revelation didnt come until I moved up to 12" and had put When Doves Cry and Lets' Go Crazy on the Record player up side down on the spindle.....and got a does of 'Erotic City' and '17 Days'....I only then went back and started listening to other album cuts and B-Sides....and the rest was history.

Oh my word! I can understand skipping: I FEEL FOR YOU

But what I can't understand is skipping I HATE YOU and COMPUTER BLUE! Shame on you! At least you're not skipping those songs anymore.

I am ashamed, back in my younger days, skipping over Paisley Park. Only to hear it at the end of the MTV interview and think how stupid I was to have missed that gem. Went back and made it one of my favorite songs.

I'm a bit embarrased to admit (but that's what we're doing here) that I really had Prince's first four albums down to one song that I loved on each and that was about it! I would listen to "I'm Yours," "Bambi," "Head" and "Controversy," and then any other album was pretty much game straight through (until Come and The Vault, when I reinstated that practice).

Now, I'm much more open to rediscovering what I missed!
