New Power Soul

Interestingly, many of you put this album in your Top 5 of the 90's. Wtf?!

Okay, I haven't listened to this cd for quite some time now. Perhaps some of you can discuss what's great about it (i.e. what I've been missing) and if there any hidden messages / meanings etc

Looking for some New Power Soul, inspire me if it's possible.

lol I can't understand why so many people hate this album? I LOVE IT.. maybe its because its more in the "rap-style".. not many people dig that.. I dont mean to say that YOU guys don't dig it, but I were a Tupac fan before Prince fan (horrible???) well I just like this album! But of course we all have our diffrent tastes..

There are two good songs on that album - Come On and Wasted Kisses. That's IT. Mad Sex is interesting, but could have been turned into a much better song. When You Love Somebody is mediocre, as is The One. The others - I Like Funky Music, Push It Up, Freaks On This Side (yuck) and whatever the hell is on it - could all easily be listed in Prince's ten worst songs of all times.

Could it b his most boring, ironically soul-less album?
I think it was accredited to the NPG because he knew that he hadn't put much of hisself into it.
There r some OK grooves, but nothing inspiring.

IMO
Overall unfocused and boring at time, but it has three great songs inside: "Come on", "Wasted kisses" and obiouvsly "The One" (for me one of his best songs in the 90's).
Their presence justify to have this CD (if not for collection).

NAMOR

"Until U"re in my arms again",extremely endearing track with very heartfelt lyrics. A must 4 anyone who's in love. "When U love somebody", mainly is appealing if U have a "someone" in your life, very strong chorus with powerful horns 2 the forfront. But song kinda diminishes after the last chorus which kills it 4 me.
"The One", as always a great Prince ballad.
"Mad Sex", great car thumping song("freaks gonna bob 2 this!!")
"Wasted Kisses", great track 4 those of us who've been in "wasted" relationships (and those who are nastalgic of the Black Album track,"Bob George"). Dedicated 2 many 'a exes.

I thought it was nice to hear Prince not trying to make a hit reocord or to be contraversial like with TRC.

Just music for the sake of music, the way it should b
