over the years who is the best and worst guitarist prince had on stage with him? i think Dez was maybe the best and wendy was the worst...what do you think?

I don't know if I would say Wendy was the "worst."

But I do think that she didn't have any experience playing in a band and it showed. Watching Wendy's performance on the Prince and the Revolution Live From Syracuse tape gives you a excellent idea of her level of playing at that time. She was a kid right out of high school when she joined the Revolution. Wendy was from a musical family and had taken guitar lessons, but the Revolution was her first real band. She received on-the-job training and a wonderful ride at the top for a couple of years.

Wendy and the rest of the Revolution were adequate for Prince's needs at that time, but the Revolution would never have been able to carry Prince through the 90s and beyond.

My opinion is this: Prince was ready to move on to a more funky sound. I think that Lisa had the skills to contribute her particular flavor to a late 80s early 90s Prince, but Wendy and Lisa were a package. He knew he couldn't keep one without the other, so he let them both go.
