Making Prince lyrics acceptable for live performance

Prince has kind of "succeeded" in toning down the lyrics of songs such as 'Days of Wild' so that he can still play them live without causing offence.

Now I was just reading the "Sister" thread ealier on and I was thinking its such a shame that we will probably never be able to this song played live again due to its lyrical content.

However, is there any possible way he could tone down the lyrics to this song?

Anybody got any ideas for a few lyric changes so that Prince might be able to play it live again?

If he doesn't like his lyrics anymore he should just stop playing these songs neutral

Hey not bad DavidEye! But I think you're probably right. We just have to accept that we probably wont get to hear this one again sad

Nah, don't get too discouraged. It's Prince. I wouldn't be surprised if 2 years from now, he's dirtier and nastier than ever.

You know, some lyrics just shouldn't be altered. Maybe he should not sing this one because there is no getting around the content in this one.

No. Even if he hadn't decided to discard certain songs in a live setting, I don't think he should sing this one. It's fixed in time forever, we'll always have it whenever we want to hear it anyway. And if he tries to phuck with it on potential remasters I'll kick his ass.

Cleaning up Sister would be like editing "Lactation Nation" into "Gandhi." It ain't gonna happen. Hopefully Prince will realize he's already going against many of the JW teachings and bring back some of his nastier classics.

Prince can still sing the old "dirty" songs. He just needs to use his imagination.....

One word ya'll.....

I remember when I met u, baby
U were on you're way to be wed
U had such a sexy pen set
I loved the way you wrote and the things you said
And I was it little worried
when I saw your pen had mis-bled
But I've gotta help u, baby
Can you try my pencil instead?
And you said
"But I just a writer And I'm on my way to be wed
But you're such a sprite,
with nice graphite”

Give me some Lead
Til you're burning up
Lead
Til you get enough
Lead
Til you're fingers is red
Lead
Love you til you're dead

U know you're good, girl
I think you like to write down
U wouldn't have stopped
But U misused a good pro-noun,
And you said, “I must confess,
I’m think I’m tired and I need bed

With that I jammed, tomorrow,
The JW news we spread!

Now morning, noon, and night
I give u
Lead
Til you're burning up
Lead
Til you get enough
Lead
Til you're love is red
Lead Love you til you're dead
Ooh yeah, ooh yeah, ooh yeah
Lead, Lead, Lead, oh, Lead, oh
Lead
Till you're burning up
Lead
Til you get enough
Lead
Til your love is red
Lead
Love you til you're dead

See, he can do it! biggrin

And Sister can be sung live again too!!!!!

I was only 16 but I guess that's no excuse
I like to wear my clothes lovely and….loose
I forget to wear deodorant
Smell nice I seriously can’t
And now my sister gives me verbal abuse

My sister never has a go at anyone else but me
She's half the reason I sometimes smell of wee
She showed me where deodorant go
Press the nozzle and let it flow
Hygiene is everything it's said 2 be

Oh sister - don't put me on the street again
Oh sister - I just wanna be your friend

I was only 16 and only half a man
My sister had a long-term plan
She only wanted 2 turn me out
She'd take perfume to 2 me until I shout
Oh mothers daughter, she's a mother daughter, now I understand!

Oh sister - don't put me on the street again
Oh sister - I just wanna be your friend

I know what U want to be the cream
Put me on the street and make me clean

Oh sister!
Oh sister!
Oh!

biggrin Ok now, lets all just calm down about prince changing his lyrics!!!!! I'm not sure if everyone is talking about Prince at his American gigs but I'm sure when he comes to Britain (if he does) then he won't change his lyrics. He can't change his lyrics, thats like asking George Bush to grow brain cells (IMPOSSIBLE). So lets hope he never does or has to.

1 2 3 - Nah, little cutie, I ain't drinkin' (Gett off)
Scope this, I was just thinkin'
U + me, what a ride
If u was thinkin' the same
We could continue outside (Gett off)
Lay your pretty body against a parkin' meter
Strip your dress down
Like I was strippin' a Peter Paul's Almond Joy
Lemme show u baby I'm a talented boy
