Sometimes a body requires more protein than what is present and available in vegetables. Prince has been on such an intense schedule that I doubt he has had many good home cooked meals. It takes alot of time and thought to cook good balanced vegetarian meals. I stopped eating red meat about 30 years ago, but i occasionally will eat fish. My life can get hectic and sometimes you just need the protien. Fish is unlike the meat of warm blooded animals who can bat their eyelashes at you (including pork...which i think is the worst meat.) Jesus multiplied the fish and fed the multitudes. So in moderation I don't think eating fish is really detrimental for U except for the mercury content. If we eat within our envirnment, mostly organic foods and other foods in moderation we can be in tune with our universe. I was sort of brooding on Friday too. I woke up and realized that Prince had been in Minney at Bunkers just a few hours away while I slept. I also believe that there has been a severe lack of understanding from others on this thread as to why it would matter to a vegan if another vegan does decide to stray from his or her commitment to the lifestyle. All in all, however, I think this whole entire thread is nothing but people misunderstanding each other. Yes; I do care about why someone may have given up veganism/vegetarianism. Yes; it's important to me that people take it seriously rather than treat it as a phase. Yes; there is the possibility that this entire story about him eating fish is in error. No; we shouldn't obsess about what Prince does in his personal life. Really, I think my only beef about this entire thread is that I feel like people are trying to say that I'm silly for being upset at the idea of someone committing themselves to a vegan lifestyle, only to later reject it. I never said I was judging the man. There are plenty of reasons why I feel the way I do towards veganism, and honestly, I think the only way anyone could possibly understand it is if he or she is also a vegan. I don't like being made to feel like I have no reason to feel the way I do about certain things, and that's just the feeling that I got from people on this thread. Point was that this thread, as evidenced by the zillion responses, is all about veganism. And I pointed out anouther part of the story..You know about Prince Partying alone...I was trying to move Aaway from the vegan thing as it was beaten like a dead horse...but you said "I agree with you about this thread" and went right back to the vegan topic. The original thread was that Prince broods alone at after-party - Let me address that first. Prince is a man - a person like everyone else. Not everyday he's gonna Party like it's 1999 or whatever. Sometimes one just needs to chill. We have all been there in some way or another. You make plans to go clubbing weeks ago wit your crew and the nite of...you really don't feel like. But rather than canceling you go ahead - thinking- you mite get into the groove...but end up in the grove. So you just "chill". As for the side track of this thread - everyone here that has been a FAN of Prince all these years should know by now that Prince is Obsessive Compulsive. When something hits him or clicks a certain way. He goes with it to the point that everyone must be on the same band wagon. much like what Org member name said. And everyone here knows this. I mean everyone.His celebration festivals perfect example - People were coming there. Showcasing new Artists, bringing in revenue for MN. And as it became stronger each year what happens, he stops, loses interest. Look at his website - For awhile there it was changing every other month. Again we all should know this period. As for the to Vegan or not to Vegan well - It is one's progative to change their mind - it is a free society. I have drank Dr. Pepper for years. One day one of my friends came over and I was drinking 7-up. There were shocked - like I just told them I worship Satan or something. My reply, "Hey sometimes you just wanna change." Geez, really.
So Prince said/says one thing and then one day does the total opposite. So what else is new? Prince wasn't always vegan/vegetarian, and one day he decides to be so. Then one day, he isn't as strict anymore about it. WOW, HOW TOTALLY UNLIKE HIM TO DO SUDDENLY CHANGE LIKE THAT! 
Do people *really* take his word as the eternal, end-all on a subject anymore - even things he appears to be passionate about? He's always been a contradictory, hypocritical, ever changing personality. Just because he proclaims one thing one day doesn't mean he will *always* feel that way, or be that way, or subscribe to that idea/belief/whatever. I don't mean that as a slam, it's just how he has proven to be. And if he *does* indeed stick by something forever, well good for him and that's great. But only time will be the accurate litmus test of his dedication to a given belief or stance...not what he says or how loudly or passionately he proclaims his conviction. If and when he suddenly changes his stance or belief on something - I don't get why people even get shocked or are surprised? To me that's a silly reaction because he's never been known to be a person that doggedly stays with one thing for too long. I guess it's because he'd been advocating one of their own personal beliefs and when he does that, they kinda forget how mercurial he is. I believe Prince is very passionate and sincere at the time he's proclaiming whichever belief he is following at any given time, but as time passes, his interest in it invariably wanes somewhat. maybe he doesn't totally lose interest completely but the passion for it lessens. That's just how he is. Just my thoughts. | |

I love ya Zel, but that's MACROBIOTIC not microbiotic. It stands for the LARGE LIFE, a life that encompasses everything!! We should try to eat whatever our environment produces in the season that it produces it and we will be in tune with our universe. Personally, it appears that Prince is able to transmute whatever he eats since he's ALMOST always IN TUNE.

Not to take this already whacked out thread in another direction, but I just have to ask - aren't you the same Zelaira that is constantly posting all over the place that Prince needs to quit being so conservative, and needs to get freaky and nasty again, and should lighten up and this and that and etc etc etc?

Yes,True..But I say This Because I feel Prince should Incorporate MORE ADVENTURE or FUN in his Life is All. I Totally DON"T Expect him to be like On all the Time or some SEX Machine all the Time but well To Me he Is a Sex God ya Know..He Don't Gotta do anything But Play Guitar. Exactly... People gotta Understand he's a Living Human Being who gets tired and well he was looking to Relax. From a purely observational standpoint, I've been thinking for sometime now that Prince is looking TOO thin. I'm just glad he's eating something. If he's eating fish because of health issues, that could be a reason for the so-called brooding. If the man is feeling a little worn out and reflective, he's probably tired. This has been SOME strenuous tour and it may be taking a bit of a toll on him. I know he has alot to be excited and up about, but it's only natural that he may be tiring somewhat. He's very human but I'm sure he's gathering his second wind and will be all right. I hope he takes as much alone time as he needs and can trust in the fact that his fans will support him and understand his needs, too. | |
