So is Prince no longer a Vegan. Its strange that he would just start eating animal again.

Well the whole pizza thing on stage was a giveaway that he's no longer a vegan. I'm shocked that he'd start eating meat again though - especially considering that his feelings were strong enough to write a song like "Animal Kingdom".

I guess the hope is still alive then that the assless pants might one day resurface!

Or that he'll get dirty again and drop the whole JW thing. biggrin

i'm not saying that being a vegan isn't diet that can't be sustained. i said that my friend's doctor told him that it was affecting his health. now perhaps the doctor didn't know enough to recommend how my friend could have done better for himself, but he has some health issues that the doctor was concerned about. so that was just his recommendation. but i do support the idea that everyone's body is different. there could be a whole lot of reasons as to why he turned away from it than just some kind of weakness. though of course, maybe he did just one day decide to switch back.

i wasn't trying to suggest that veganism isn't serious. however, i also think that it is a much harder thing to do for some people than they might realize. it requires a lot more research than most people realize to be truly vegan. i'd be more curious as to why he decided to turn away from veganism than anything. not trying to attack your belief. i'm sure your feelings are stronger on the subject.

Thanks for that. biggrin

Whats wrong with him just wanting to chill?

He likes to chill....

According to a friend...Mix Master Morris (Ambient Music Musician ala Irresistable Force) Prince once asked him where he can find an all-chill out music / chill out room/bar was...when he was in London one time.

DOn't know all of the circumstances...but It's Morris' "Prince" story.

I certainly wouldn't be surprised. For all we know, he's banging women left and right while Mani isn't around.

I'd be a lot less ticked off about this whole thing if he hadn't been so preachy about his veganism in the past.

hmm Uhh, c'mon people!!! As for the fish dinner, this is just one report from a gossip column, and you're trashing him over it?!

As for the pizza thing (Prince had a pizza deliverd to him onstage in Chicago on 24 July, then shared it with fans), I dug up the original NPGMC post and it clearly stated it was a VEGGIE pizza. Not PC if you're trying to be Vegan, but no meat either...

I think it's fine if Prince dove in the sea and dived for his diner. He can chill. They should let him be. It sounds like the promoters and onwers of the lounge are bitter he did not greet them all. It's was a lounge. He was loungin. I don't think he would have even thought they expected more out of him.

While Prince is making changes in his life and doing complete turnarounds on the things he used to preach to others about, perhaps he could ditch that whole religious nutball thing. . .

Yes; it's very disappointing. It's certainly not something that should ever be looked at as a "phase".

It's not that serious. confused

It IS that serious...

I have been Vegetarian for several years now and for the most part Vegan, aside from the fact that Pizza is my kryptonite but I eat that VERY rarely otherwise Vegan all the way.

Prince is the kind of person who learns something new and before he gets any deeper into getting info on the subject he goes and runs around preaching his new found knowledge as if he's a master of it. Years later he finally settles into fully understanding it and figures out that there's really no need to go spatting out about it.

When he became Vegetarian he went everywhere bragging about it. A little while later he can't get over that urge for an Arby's 5 for $5 samich and shuts his trap.

He's a hypocrite point blank. Look at his interviews from 1997-2000 and you'll see how uncomfiortable he was saying all that bullsh*t religious stuff Larry had JUST started telling him. NOW he seems MUCH more confident in his beliefs and MUCH more at ease.

Being a Vegan / Vegetarian isn't and SHOULD NOT be a fad or a way to get attention.

confused I've been told my more than one vegetarian or vegan that the two are totally different. They told me that Vegans don't eat any animals whatsoever, nor to they ingest any products that come from animals, ie, eggs and milk. Vegetarians just don't eat red meat. Fish aren't red meat. Neither are birds such as turkey and chicken. Pork is white meat, as we have all seen from the commercials. "Pork, the other white meat." Sorry, just had to say it. So, maybe Prince has decided that he can't live without a good helping of some "Chicken of the Sea". So, now that would make him a vegetarian instead of a vegan. Now, if I see or hear about him getting hooked up with a Whopper, than I can understand the complaint. biggrin

Awww, that's such a cute reason not to eat animals. smile That was one of the reasons why I once wanted to be a vegetarian, that and I'm going to school to be a Veterinarian. I was all into converting into the herbivore life style until I actually had to work with cows, sheep, chickens, and other farm animals. Man, are they stupid. Anything that dumb should be consumed. Now, pigs are extremely intelligent, so I try not to eat pork products, but God made cows, sheep, and chickens to eat. Many fish aren't that bright either. We don't want them to overpopulate the earth, now do we? Like I said, I've met many Vegans and Vegetarians who are against killing animals, but I've seen them swat at flies and kill cockroaches. shrug

The "vegetarians" that you speak of are incredibly misinformed and misguided. Pigs, chickens, turkeys, and fish are NOT vegetables!!!!! Anyone who tells you this is wrong. I find it incredibly disturbing that people who eat meat would actually describe themselves as vegetarians.

Here is the difference between vegan and vegetarian - Vegans do not eat ANYTHING that comes from an animal (milk, cheese, honey, etc). Vegetarians just stay away from anything containing meat or gelatin. Anyone who tells you otherwise has no idea what they're talking about.

As for being "stupid".....you just gave an excellent reason for cannabalism. I'd much rather be surrounded by "stupid" animals than child molesters or rapists or people who carry evil and malice in their hearts. One of my neighbors is a total b*tch with no manners. Perhaps I should think about making a meal out of her. Besides, would you eat a dog? Pigs are much smarter than dogs.

Sorry; it's just that I am a person who is defined by my spirituality, and veganism is a huge part of my spirituality. It burns me up to see people dismiss it so casually or to declare themselves vegetarians because they don't eat red meat. Whatever.

Wow, someone woke up on the wrong side of bed this morning. Did I say anywhere that what these people told me was a law in the Vegan/Vegetarin handbook, no. So, I'm stupid, because I've worked with these animals and know that if they don't get consumed they will over-populate the earth. Why do you think vets urge pet owners to have their dogs and cats spayed and neutered? All I have to say is, if you've ever harmed a fly, cockroach, or any of God's creatures that are viewed as nuisances, than you don't need to be calling anyone stupid. God put everything and everyone here for a reason. The human body needs to consume several vitamins that are found in meats to remain in working condition. Sure, they have made vitamins that prevents animal-consumption, but I've met a lady who took Ginko Biloba everyday and she developed some illness because of it. It just worked against her and did the opposite of what it was supposed to do. The majority of vitamins nowadays are what...man-made, okay then. Anything man-made has flaws. Turkeys are now genetically made in labs. They have genetically-engineered vegetables as well. Even "organic foods" have been processed and handled by human hands. Whose to say that those "organic foods" weren't sprayed with chemicals or made in the same factory as meat-products? Companies lie everyday to people so that they can sell something.

Well, than, I guess you were against the slaughter of all those cows who had "Mad Cow" disease. Did you know that if you have a room full of white chickens and one of them has a single black feather on its head, that the other chickens will peck at that black feather until they peck that chicken to death? I've worked with dogs who were pampered everyday of their lives and they are more evil than the dog that gets kicked and mistreated everyday by his owner. You make it seem as if animals can't have malice in their hearts toward a certain thing or person, which is total bullshit. I've worked with dogs that would only allow me to touch them....out of a room of 7 or more other pet caretakers, I was the one they allowed to get near them and touch them. So, you're the one implying that animals are stupid. Hey, if you want to eat you bitchy neighbor, than more power to you. Child molestors and rapists aren't the only humans with malice in their hearts. Seems you have malice towards your neighbor to me. I would just over-look her and forgive her, since that is the spiritually-correct thing to do. Would I eat a dog? That's like a question someone asked me before. They asked me if I would eat a bug. I told them the same thing I'm going to tell you. If that was the only food around and I was hungry, I sure would. If all the vegetables were deamed unsafe to eat and you couldn't find a head of lettuce to sink your teeth into, can you honestly say that you wouldn't eat a dog or whatever to survive. I know you're going to say, "That would never happen", but the environment isn't what it used to be and the world is becoming more and more overpopulated by people everyday. We'll all be eating genetically-engineered corn in a couple years at this rate. The soil can only produce so much and at such a pace. You going to starve just to save something that I can guarentee you will eat you the moment you stop moving. I'm not trying to down your spiritual beliefs, but like I said God put every creature here for a purpose. The zebra eats the grass and the lion eats the zebra. That was it's purpose, to help support the continuation of life.

Oh, and on the "malice" thing. I worked on a puppy who's own father bit him in the face out of jealousy. He was jealous that the puppies got to spend more time with his mate and were getting more attention from his owners. Now, that puppy has to go through life with one eye. If you buy fish and put them in an aquarium together and one of them dies, the other fish will it that dead fish. Just because they walk on four legs and don't speak our language doesn't mean that animals are any less capable of exuding emotions similar to their human counterparts.

Thank you very much for pointing out the fish story is purely hearsay.

When he was onstage Aug. 7, he performed a solo and referenced pizza and other junk food, but I don't think he was applying it to himself. I couldn't make out everything he said though, so maybe I'm wrong. I heard him end it with something like, "I'm in shape, round is a shape." And of course the crowd laughed...

It's just completely ridiculous that he gets all preachy about being a vegan, and then completely turns his back on it.

And if he really has been eating meat for a while, he never should have said otherwise in a recent interview. I find that incredibly distasteful.
