CURIOUS ABOUT CONTENTS OF POSSESSED I have yet to read Possessed but was surprised to read a review that states that Alex Haun alleges that Prince did a stent in rehab for cocaine abuse. Who has read the book and cares to relay the details for me?

I wrote that review for the Metro Times!!!
And yes, Hahn's book alleges that. Hahn is a hack journalist who's book was filled with factual errors and it's obvious that he only wrote the book because he's a disgruntled ex-fan with an axe to grind (he was the pro bono lawyer who defended Uptown against Prince). Possessed is like a quick breeze through Uptown's own books, it's clearly based on much of the same research (as has been stated).
The authors salacious approach to the subject matter shouldn't put you off what is, IMO, a fun read for fans of Prince. I'd ignore the bile that over-zealous fans spout about the book, and check it out yourself. And then if you want to fill in the gaps, get Uptowns The Vault, and Per Nilsen's DMSR.

Here's the link to the review...www.thedetroitcrawl.org/possessed_review.html Alex Hahn does not allege that Prince did a stint in rehab for cocaine abuse. His book reports on the period during the '90's when Prince was in dispute with Warner Brothers and states that some associates of Prince believed he was using stimulants - perhaps cocaine. The book makes clear that such suggestions are assumptions, claims and anecdotal reports. The reference to Prince entering drug rehabilitation is a described as a claim attributed to a former studio engineer, Chuck Zwicky. Hahn also presents the opposing view, namely that there are other close associates of Prince who strongly doubt any such drug problem. The article in the Metro Times correctly points out some of the factual inaccuracies in the book. It does not say that Hahn himself makes the allegation. . Thanks for the replies. I have this book on reserve at the library. I'll read it with an open mind.
