Race for example - "cut me cut you, both the blood is red" and as he quite rightly finishes "we are all bones when we are dead" so what does it matter!
Politicians complicate issues why? every problem has a very simple core as P highlights in Race. Politicians have to complicate things, have to blur issues have to maintain a certain level of "chaos" otherwise why have politicians? oh and of course people do make a lot of money out of moral and political "problems" If you doubt P's ability to write hard hitting lyrics which comment on political and moral issues, what about Sign O' the times a damning critique on late 80's western morals which is as relevant today as it was back in '87.

Wow, slow down buddy! calm it. It's just a B-side; some of Prince's are good, and others are less... and if you don't like it. fine. Just relax. it's all pretty normal.

"The United States of Division" + "Magnificient" + "Silver Tongue"
vs: "Erotic City" + "Scarlet Pussy" + "How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore" I know what bundle I prefer...

Whatever. This "bleeding heart" loves both the music and lyrics on the song (although I woulda liked P to add a rockin' guitar solo). Sure, the words are about as deep as my bathtub, but listen to the mainstream protest songs of the 60s and tell me they're any deeper. "War! Huh! Good gawd, y'all -- what is it good for? Absolutely nothing!" "Make love, not war." "Tune in, turn on, drop out." (Okay, so the last one was never actually a SONG.)
Prince wrote a nice protest tune that addressed some very real issues. Complexity usually turns people off and that ugly "Liberal Elite" word starts being used. The reason Michael Moore is so popular is because he keeps things simple and easy to understand. Remember, the average IQ in America is only 100. Prince wrote a nice little tune and sang some meaningful lyrics. It's better than another watered-down Jehovah-approved sex song. Luv & Peace, Alex Clubbin' in Mpls/A Night w. Prince

I had the same problem. I've watched every episode of that show at least twice over and STILL couldn't pick up that single line. Some of the variations I came up with are pretty hilarious, in retrospect. Luv & Peace, Alex Clubbin' in Mpls/A Night w. Prince

I only wish entertainer's would stay out of controversial politics.. because they R sure to anger/alienate someone. Ask Linda Rondstadt. Especially when it comes to criticizing policy. Besides, honestly, a bunch of these people don't really know the hardships of military service, or war.
Too simplistically generalized to have any truth to it. Of course someone like Marvin Gaye couldn't have possibly been related to anyone who was sent to Vietnam. Nor have they ever had a blister! Prince has em' from guitar playing, of course. I love Prince to death... but don't preach to ex-military about not protecting ourselves. We'd all do it over again... and again.. and again. But feel free to make a stand on less controversial stuff, that noone can argue with.. racism. hunger. child abuse. homeless. ignorance. Hate. etc.
Ohhh, those things in Prince's repertoire can and HAVE been argued about on this site. They're hardly less controversial around here. i have 2 tell u supernova, that Marvin Gaye's brother actually is a veteran of the vietnam war. i reckon that would make him some1 that Marvin knew in that war. just a little info 4 ya.[quote]live 4 love without love u don't live
