from a funk perspective hey everybody im a relatively new prince fan, but i've been a funkateer for a long time. I want to find out which is prince's funkiest album. Gotta have that funk. | |

1999 has the purest funk. Nice bass, long jams. Even the ballads are funky, in some way.

That depends upon your definition of funky.
I'm setting myself up here for ridicule, but I think New Power Soul is possibly his most consistently funky album, though not his best. Also I think Come is very funky, & better than New Power Soul. But The Black Album is probably the best of his funk oriented affairs. The music just doesn't fit my definition of funk as much as the other two (other than Dead On It and Rock Hard in a Funky Place) Check this song out at:

Some people mean weird when they say funky, and I'd agree that Parade fits that definition. Of course, Parade does have some just plain funky stuff like kiss & new position... Check this song out at:
